Full job description

We require an HGV 2 driver to undertake furniture deliveries around the UK. We are based in Midlothian.

We have been established since 1979, currently have a vacancy, and are looking for the right person to fill this and become part of our team.

We have a good staff retention rate and most people are with us for many years.

We work for a number of top end furniture suppliers and offer a high standard of service.

Ideally somebody with removal experience as our position requires the skills of a remover, but involves much less constant lifting, and more driving, but the ability to have good customer facing skills is paramount.

Basic furniture assembly or DIY skills are advantageous as there can be some assembly involved.

If we find the right person who does not necessarily have previous furniture experience, but has enthusiasm, we are prepared to do on the job training to our requirements.

Drivers are generally with a porter, and all our porters are very experienced, hence not a job for somebody who wants to be alone in a truck all week !

Must be prepared to do nights away most weeks, often up to to four but varies week to week, as we cover most of the UK.

All our vehicles have double sleeper cabs.

We need a smart and conscientious individual who has a current tacho and valid CPC cards.

We offer a starting salary of £31,000 per annum, which after a three month successful trial period rises to £32,000 plus tax free overnight allowances when away.

This is based on there being somewhere between 5 and 15 hours between overtime and POA's each week.

There are six weeks holiday each year, and we also close between Christmas and New Year which is not counted as part of your holiday entitlement.

There is a fuel usage bonus paid each month which in recent months has varied between £40 and £90.

Generally we do not work weekends and normally finish early afternoons on Fridays - there may be the odd exception around Christmas when we are usually very busy.

We can offer an immediate start.
