Job Title: Deputy Headteacher – Teaching & Learning
Location: Rotherhithe, Southwark, London
Pay Range: £62,000 – £82,888 (Leadership Scale)
Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-term (October Start – End of Academic Year)

ANZUK Education is working with a high-performing and ambitious primary school in Southwark seeking an exceptional Deputy Headteacher – Teaching & Learning to join their leadership team from October until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to be extended.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader to play a pivotal role in driving outstanding teaching and learning across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and wider leadership team to maintain exceptionally high standards, further develop teaching practice and ensure pupils continue to receive an outstanding educational experience.

The school has a well-established reputation for excellence, with a broad, ambitious curriculum underpinned by evidence-informed teaching, continuous professional development and a culture of high expectations for both pupils and staff. It places a strong emphasis on inclusion, aspiration and delivering consistently high-quality teaching across every classroom.

This Deputy Headteacher role would suit an experienced senior leader with a proven track record of improving teaching and learning, coaching staff and leading school improvement within a high-performing primary school. With the school preparing for a future Ofsted inspection, they are seeking someone who can hit the ground running and confidently lead with credibility, expertise and impact.

Key Responsibilities of Deputy Headteacher – Teaching & Learning:

  • Lead and drive the strategic development of teaching and learning across the school
  • Monitor the quality of teaching through observations, coaching and feedback to ensure consistently outstanding practice
  • Support and develop teachers through high-quality professional development and instructional coaching
  • Work closely with the Headteacher to implement school improvement priorities
  • Use assessment and performance data to drive pupil outcomes and raise attainment
  • Champion high expectations for teaching, behaviour, curriculum delivery and pupil achievement
  • Support the school's ongoing preparation for future Ofsted inspection

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
  • Have substantial experience as a Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher or equivalent senior leadership role within a primary school
  • Have a proven track record of improving teaching and learning across a whole school
  • Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of curriculum development, pedagogy and evidence-informed practice
  • Be an outstanding practitioner with experience coaching and developing teachers
  • Be confident working within a high-performing environment where expectations are exceptionally high
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Show an unwavering commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
