Care worker

Positive Independence is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our team in a specialist solo children’s home in Derbyshire. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in a young person’s life, providing stability, encouragement, and high‑quality care within a supportive and professional environment.

This is a unique opportunity for a Residential Childcare Worker to play a key role in shaping a supportive and nurturing home environment from the very beginning. You’ll help build positive routines, contribute to a trauma‑informed therapeutic approach, and create a safe, structured space that truly meets the individual needs of the children in our care.

Positive Independence currently operates 7 homes across Mansfield, Lincoln, Newark and Grantham, all of which have achieved Good or Outstanding outcomes in their Ofsted inspections. We are also in the process of registering our 8th, 9th and 10th homes in Newark and the Alfreton area, reflecting our continued growth and commitment to high-quality care.

We are looking for people who are able to do the following –

- Create an environment which allows children and young people to feel cared for, nurtured and respected by creating trusting relationships with the children at the home.

- Have the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

- Be committed to providing high-quality care and promoting positive outcomes with a child centred approach.

- Be willing to work toward their level 3 qualification.

- Be able to work as part of a team and ensure consistent practice.

- Have the ability to empathise and be understanding of the children’s needs and an understanding of their past experiences.

- To be creative and imaginative when faced with challenges and barriers displayed by the children.

Our morals, philosophy and ethics ensure we provide small nurturing environments which replicate a family like experience. Positive Independence provides 4 bedroomed homes for 2 children, at any time. This enables us to replicate a family home to ensure the children are at the centre of everything we do. It is an exciting opportunity to join a developing and expanding company who will be opening new children’s homes across the east midlands.

Location: Shirland, Derbyshire

Hourly Rate:

· £14.50 per hour, with Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)!

· £ 13.50per hour, without this qualification.

· Sleep in’s are paid additionally at £78.48 per night (normally 2230-0730) when required.

Contracted Hours: This is a full time position, 37 hours on average per week plus sleep in's.
