To stay ahead of ever-evolving threats, Special Operations (SO) need the best tech around. As a Tactical Engineer, you’ll make sure officers get the IT they need, bringing tactical solutions to colleagues at sites around London.
As a Tactical Engineer, you’ll spend your days ensuring that Special Operations and Counter Terrorism (CT) colleagues are equipped to perform at their best, from a tech point of view. You’ll be part of the Business Development, Strategy and Demand (BDSD) team, providing operational colleagues around London with tactical IT solutions.
It’s fast-paced, hands-on work, as officers need IT asap. You’ll work as quickly as you can by liaising with operational users to understand their needs.
When you’re not busy creating unique tech for our team, you’ll assist users with common apps (for example, MS Edge); give guidance on corporate and standalone IT systems (telephony, printers etc); deal with configuration; and carry out site surveys where necessary.
As you can see it’s a busy and varied role, so you’ll need to think quickly and get projects delivered swiftly. To join us, you’ll need knowledge of Microsoft apps (O365, Windows, MS Edge); the ability to prioritise your workload; a talent for planning IT during office moves; and a knack for switching quickly between competing demands.
Please note that this role involves some travel around the UK.
It is essential you hold a full UK driving licence as on occasions you might need to transport equipment between sites.
Besides the rewarding nature of the job itself, a competitive salary, and a Civil Service pension, you'll also benefit from excellent career and professional development.
