Full job description
Agile Test Automation Engineer
Join LMS and help us build quality into every stage of software delivery.
At LMS, we're passionate about delivering high-quality digital solutions that make a difference. We're looking for an experienced Agile Test Automation Engineer to design and implement modern automation frameworks, embed quality throughout our Agile development lifecycle, and leverage AI-assisted testing to improve efficiency, coverage, and software reliability. The role focuses on designing scalable automated testing across functional, regression, integration, performance, load, and scalability testing while using AI responsibly to enhance quality engineering.
About the Role
As an Agile Test Automation Engineer, you'll work as part of a collaborative Agile team, partnering closely with developers, QA engineers, and product stakeholders to ensure quality is built into every release. You'll champion automation, continuous testing, and engineering excellence while exploring innovative AI-enabled testing capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop and maintain scalable automated test frameworks and reusable test suites.
- Build automation across functional, regression, integration, API, performance and non-functional testing.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to provide rapid feedback and support continuous delivery.
- Analyse test results, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot failures and collaborate with developers to resolve quality issues.
- Evaluate, implement and maintain automation tools, frameworks and secure test data strategies.
- Use AI-assisted testing tools to improve test design, execution, defect detection and reporting while validating AI-generated outputs.
- Advocate for quality-first engineering practices and continuously improve automation coverage, stability and efficiency.
- Document automation frameworks, processes and best practices while sharing knowledge across the engineering community.
What You'll Bring
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong experience with Agile software delivery and test automation.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Cypress
- Postman (or equivalent)
- Experience with Git, Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- Knowledge of API, integration, regression, performance and scalability testing.
- Experience designing scalable automation frameworks and reusable test assets.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve automation issues.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
AI & Modern Quality Engineering
You'll be excited by the opportunity to work with AI-enabled testing tools and understand how AI can improve automation while recognising the importance of validating AI-generated outputs. You'll have a working understanding of AI-assisted code, including how to review, refactor and harden generated tests so they are reliable and maintainable rather than simply green. You'll also be confident using MCP servers such as Playwright and Chrome to drive a real browser from an AI-assisted development environment, exploring the application, building automated tests and validating that they behave correctly against the live UI. You'll also appreciate responsible AI principles including governance, security, privacy and compliance.
We're Looking For Someone Who
- Takes ownership and is passionate about software quality.
- Has exceptional attention to detail and engineering discipline.
- Collaborates effectively across cross-functional Agile teams.
- Embraces continuous learning and emerging technologies.
- Is curious, innovative and committed to responsible AI adoption.
- Thrives in a fast-paced Agile environment while maintaining high engineering standards.
Why Join LMS?
At LMS, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Work with modern automation and AI-assisted testing technologies.
- Influence quality engineering practices across the organisation.
- Collaborate with talented Agile teams.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Grow your technical expertise in automation, DevOps and AI-enabled quality engineering.
If you're passionate about automation, continuous improvement and building high-quality software through modern engineering practices, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help us shape the future of quality engineering at LMS.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year

- Describe your experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins etc.). What did you personally implement or maintain?
- Have you used AI-assisted development or testing tools (such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or MCP Playwright/Chrome) to create or improve automated tests? If yes, how did you validate the AI-generated code before using it?
