Dycotec Materials is seeking a talented and motivated Formulation Scientist to join our rapidly growing team at our Manufacturing and Technology Centre in Calne, Wiltshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development of cutting-edge advanced materials, including nanotechnology-based systems, for applications spanning clean energy, medical devices, electric vehicles, aerospace, wearable technology and next-generation electronics.

As part of our Product Management team, you will contribute to the development of innovative products and manufacturing processes while collaborating closely with customers around the world. Whether you are an experienced scientist or an early-career researcher with strong laboratory skills, we provide the training, support and career development needed to help you succeed.

About the Role

As a Formulation Scientist, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of Dycotec Materials products and associated manufacturing processes.

Initially, you will work closely with senior members of the Product Management team, receiving hands-on training and mentorship. As your experience grows, you will take increasing ownership of projects and contribute independently to product innovation and process development.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and optimise advanced material formulations for commercial applications.

· Design and conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate material performance.

· Analyse and interpret experimental data using statistical methods.

· Develop and improve manufacturing and quality control processes.

· Operate a variety of analytical and manufacturing equipment (full training provided).

· Maintain accurate records and prepare technical reports and presentations.

· Conduct literature reviews and technology research to support product development.

· Participate in customer meetings, technical discussions and site visits.

· Ensure safe laboratory practices and prepare risk assessments where required.

· Collaborate with colleagues across technical, manufacturing and commercial teams.

· Support customer projects from concept through to production.

Occasional international travel may be required.

About You

We are looking for a curious, innovative and hands-on scientist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and developing products that make a real-world impact.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

· Degree, MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science or a related discipline.

· Practical experience preparing and processing materials for testing and evaluation.

· Strong laboratory skills with a structured, methodical approach to experimental work.

· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Ability to analyse and interpret experimental data.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

· Positive attitude, self-motivation and a willingness to learn.
