About Carmel
Carmel is a relaxed, all-day restaurant in Queen's Park inspired by the flavours of the Eastern Mediterranean. Our food is seasonal, produce-led, and built around bold, honest cooking — live fire, wood roasting, and tabun, with equal focus on vegetables, meat, and seafood. We are part of the Berber and Q Group, known for quality-driven kitchens and strong operational standards.
The role
We are looking for a Chef de Partie to join the kitchen at Carmel. This is a multi-section role — our CDPs are expected to work across larder, grill, and pass over time. You do not need to be equally strong on everything from day one, but you need a solid foundation on at least one section and the range and attitude to develop across the kitchen.
We are not looking for a specialist who only works one section. We want someone who takes ownership, works clean, and helps the whole kitchen run well.
Key responsibilities
- Run your section confidently during prep and service
- Prepare dishes to spec, maintaining consistency and quality across every cover
- Manage mise en place, stock, and organisation of your station
- Work across sections as the kitchen requires — larder, grill, and pass
- Support the Head Chef and team to ensure smooth, well-organised service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and due diligence
- Contribute to a professional, collaborative kitchen culture
What we are looking for
- 2+ years of solid CDP experience in a professional kitchen
- Confident running a section independently — prep, service, and everything in between
- Strong across meat, fish, and vegetables — this kitchen treats all three equally
- Experience or genuine interest in live fire, wood roasting, or Eastern Mediterranean food is a real advantage
- Reliable, calm under pressure, and easy to work with
- Right to work in the UK

Carmel runs all day — brunch through dinner. The kitchen is open and small, which means everyone is visible and everyone contributes. The food style rewards chefs who are curious about ingredients and comfortable working with live fire. If you have come from a purely dinner-only or single-section background, this will stretch you — in a good way.
