Full job description
This is an exciting time to be joining HM Land Registry (HMLR) to grasp HMLR’s strategic priorities and understand the concerns of the most senior leaders in the organisation, including the Chair and Chief Executive.
As a Governance and Secretariat Officer, you will be expected to provide a consistently high level of service whilst being able to work at pace and with great attention to detail.
As a member of the Strategic Planning, Performance, Sponsorship and Governance Team, you will gain experience, engage with senior leaders and make a real impact at the heart of HMLR.
Job description
This role will focus on the HM Land Registry Board and its Committees and provide dedicated support for our Non-Executive Board Members.
Within your role, you will be responsible for a range of our senior governance boards and committees to ensure that HMLR runs effectively and efficiently and complies with high standards in corporate governance.
You will work alongside three other Governance and Secretariat Officers and the Governance and Secretariat Support to deliver the full set of HMLR corporate governance boards and committees. You will collaborate to ensure consistency and continuity in delivering Board Secretariat services to HMLR senior managers.
Main duties will include end-to-end planning, management and delivery of each of your boards and/or committees. This will include developing individual agendas by considering strategic priorities and directors’ requirements and challenging where appropriate.
You will provide dedicated support for the HM Land Registry Board and its Committees and oversight of actions flowing from meeting and report updates when required.
You will deliver quality assurance of papers to Board and Committee members, whilst under pressure and tight deadlines. This will include commissioning papers and ensuring that papers focus discussions on key issues and align with HMLR’s governance processes.
You will also identify risks and mitigating actions and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HMLR’s practical implementation of corporate governance best practices in running the Board and Committees, escalating as required.
Working arrangements / additional requirements:
Please note due to operational requirements of the role, this is a full-time position (37 hours per week). In addition, attending face-to-face meetings and conferences across the HM Land Registry estate and other locations will be necessary, including frequent visits to the Head Office in Croydon and the occasional overnight stay. You must be flexible with your working hours to meet business requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below:
Essential Experience criteria:
- Experience in a similar role that provides first-class secretariat support to senior boards or committees in a fast-paced environment, maintaining confidentiality.
- Proven effective communication experience with Director / Non-Executive Board Members and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to interpret information and articulate within the team and the wider organisation to achieve the desired outcome.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and work to meet tight deadlines under pressure with changing priorities.
- Ability to understand large amounts of information at pace and produce minutes with high accuracy.
- Diligent or similar board pack software knowledge.
- Experience working alone and as part of a team.
- Microsoft Office Skills.
Pay: £39,849.00-£43,912.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Croydon (Greater London, Greater London Region)
