Faculty Director

Faculty: Care, Health and Sport

Start Date: ASAP

Hours:35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £63,593 (Increasing to £65,756 on 01 September 2026)

(salary subject to pending job evaluation)


West Lothian College are seeking to appoint a Director of Faculty to Care, Health and Sport, a faculty with curriculum areas in Childhood Practice, Sport & Fitness, Health and Social Care and Social Science. As a leader you will bring an inclusive, collaborative approach and be able to evidence values–based leadership. You will have a strong track record in curriculum delivery and be able to develop the performance of those around you. You will provide leadership and motivational management to specialist teams, including learning and skills managers, ensuring optimal performance and student success through efficient and effective resourcing, delivery, guidance, quality improvement planning and support.


As a member of the senior leadership team, you will have demonstrable ability to operate at a senior level of the college, contributing to institutional direction, as well as leading and strategically collaborating positive internal and external stakeholder engagement at all levels.


This is a key role and requires an individual who can provide strategic, creative and responsive leadership to develop an inclusive, high quality and innovative curriculum portfolio within aligned areas and for the wider college. As part of the senior team you will work with colleagues, benefitting the wider economy and community, to deliver an innovative and dynamic curriculum portfolio, delivering the best possible learning experience and a culture in which staff can thrive, both professionally and personally.


Candidates should be qualified to SCQF Level 9, with evidence of continuous professional development, preferably with a teaching qualification and/or management qualification.

Those shortlisted will be required to prepare and deliver a 10-minute presentation on ‘The cross college theme of Learning and Teaching’

Interviews will take place onsite at West Lothian College on 7th September 2026.
