Creative Director
Job details
Full job description
You care less about what is, and more about what could be. You believe the best ideas can, and should, come from anywhere. You create the conditions for teams to do the best work of their careers. You transform businesses. You elevate teams. And you refuse to settle for average anywhere.
About the role
You’ll help set the creative direction of the agency. Inspiring new thinking, pushing concepts further, and nurturing an environment where everyone around you can do the same. Bringing together strategists, writers, designers, creative technologists and client partners to create work that is stronger than the sum of its parts. You’ll bring exceptional creative judgment, a strong point of view, and the conviction to push the work until it’s truly great. From early strategic thinking through to final execution.
You’ll define what great looks like at Ragged Edge. Leading teams across brand creation, rebrands and other creative challenges to create work that is both creatively ambitious and commercially effective. Raising the bar through your coaching, craft, your curiosity and your generosity. Inspiring clients and colleagues to be braver. And creating work that creates different realities.
You’ll contribute far beyond your own projects. Helping us win work, develop talent, strengthen client relationships and evolve our creative offer. Making the agency stronger. Making the work more ambitious. And helping us become the best in the world at what we do.
Who we’re looking for
You’re actively seeking out new ideas, cultural influences, tools, and technologies. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we do expect a mindset that is curious, ambitious, collaborative, and unwilling to settle for average.
We’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive environment where everyone can feel appreciated for who they are and supported in their personal and professional growth. We encourage applications from people who may not necessarily ‘fit’ the typical branding agency mould. We’re looking for creative people looking for something different, because we are too.
While we have a flexible approach to remote working, we have a studio-first culture. With everyone on the team spending a minimum of 24 hours (roughly 3 days) a week in the studio.
Salary
From £90,000 depending on experience
Benefits
As a Certified B Corp we put our people first. Working at Ragged Edge comes with a carefully considered range of benefits across 6 key areas:
Learning & Development
Including career coaching, personal training budgets and regular ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions.
Health & Wellness
Including mental health support, private medical insurance and nutrition & wellness coaching.
Financial Wellbeing
Including in-house financial advisors, enhanced pension contributions and life insurance.
Work-Life Balance
Including hybrid working, 3-month sabbatical after 4 years, and an annual ‘My Day’ for giving back.
Family Support
Including enhanced maternity & paternity leave, enhanced fertility support and coaching for working parents.
Celebrating Together
Including summer and end-of-year parties, weekly team socials and inspirational field trips.
Our hiring process
We want every person to feel as comfortable as possible in this process, so here’s a run-down of how it might look and feel. If there are any doubts you have or any adjustments you need, please just let us know.
Step 1
Online submission
Start by introducing yourself and your experience, explaining why you want to . Please include your CV, and, if you’re applying for a creative role, some examples of your work.
Step 2
Getting to know you
If you’ve caught our attention, we’d love to jump on a call. This will be with a member of the People & Culture Team. A chance for us to get to know you better and understand what it is that excites you most.
Step 3
In-person interview
At this stage, you’ll meet with a relevant Team Head or Manager at our London studio. Giving you a feel for Ragged Edge in the flesh. Here we want to catch a glimpse of how you think and your approach to work, so please bring along some examples to speak through.
Step 4
Final creative share
Following a phone check-in and briefing, you’ll be invited back to our studio to present your creative share. This is an opportunity to take us deeper into your thought processes. As well as the successes and missteps that got you here. Collaboration is key, so we’ll invite 5 or 6 members of different teams to join you in the room too.
Hints for difference
Be authentically you
Your ways of thinking mean more to us than where you worked last. We’re looking for talent at its most genuine.
Know your work
No one does better than you. Prepare to go deep into how you formed an idea or reached a conclusion. We want to be taken along for those rides.
Stay curious
We don’t find difference when we go with the flow. We find it when we ask difficult questions. Think about what you want to know from us and why.
Help us help you
Less of a hint, more of an ask. But could we have done better? Let us know in the feedback sessions. We love to listen.
