Full job description
“Shaw Trust promotes team spirit, inclusiveness and it is an organisation where everybody is somebody. I am proud to be part of this great organisation.”
At Shaw Trust we believe everyone has the right to live a decent and dignified life and an opportunity for rewarding work. We are a social purpose organisation challenging inequality and breaking down barriers to enable social mobility.
For us being part of the solution is about creating the conditions for this to happen, advocating and delivering services that make a real difference. Working in partnership not competition, we are part of an eco-system of purpose-led organisations, striving for a fairer, more equal society centred on opportunity for all.
Purpose
Working across the marketing and communications team, you’ll champion the work of Shaw Trust, writing, editing, co-ordinating compelling copy that engages, educates, informs, and inspires action.
A great writer first and foremost, you'll transform complex issues, ideas and stories into impactful content across a broad range of formats, from thought leadership, feature articles and opinion pieces to leadership communications, impact stories and internal communications.
Curious and interested in current affairs, public policy and social issues, you'll combine strong research skills with excellent editorial judgement to identify stories, uncover insights and create content that resonates with different audiences.
Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels, you'll gather information, challenge thinking, interview stakeholders and bring Shaw Trust's work to life through engaging and accessible storytelling.
You'll also play an important role in maintaining high editorial standards, championing Shaw Trust's tone of voice and ensuring content is accurate, consistent and aligned with our brand and values.
This role would suit an editorial writer, journalist, communications professional or talented writer with an interest in the issues affecting the people and communities Shaw Trust supports.
If you'd like to apply, we'd love to see your work - please include a link to your portfolio.
The closing date for applications is 9th November 2026.
