We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Doctor and Clinical Lead to join our established Havering Adult Drug and Alcohol Service, based in Romford. The role will provide clinical leadership and medical expertise across the service, supporting our clinical and operational teams to deliver safe, effective and high-quality treatment to people experiencing drug and alcohol problems.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled doctor with an interest and experience in substance misuse treatment. The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and continued development of clinical services in Havering, providing specialist medical assessment, prescribing and clinical oversight alongside leadership of the wider clinical team.
As Clinical Lead for the Havering service, the successful candidate will have an important role in maintaining high clinical standards, supporting multidisciplinary working and helping to shape the ongoing development of treatment pathways to ensure people accessing our service receive safe, evidence-based and person-centred care.

Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
Responsibilities:
About the role:
The post holders will work under the Consultant Psychiatrist for the service and have responsibility to work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic care for client of both services.
- To provide a clinical assessment, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigation, of a wide range of substance misusers presenting to the service
- To keep accurate appropriate and up-to-date medical and administrative documentation including computer records
- To liaise closely with other relevant professionals and organisations including non-statutory addiction services, adult psychiatric services, general practitioners, medical colleagues, Social Services and Prison Services
- Initiate appropriate prescribing regimes to clients in line with national legislation/guidance and provide specialist prescribing assessments to opiate, stimulant, tranquilizer, barbiturate, alcohol dependent clients.
- Work with other team members to ensure effective administration in terms of record keeping discharge summaries and correspondence to other relevant bodies.
- Conduct phlebotomy tests if required and support nursing team in ensuring that the maximum number of service users are tested for BBVs and vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B
- Support nursing team to titrate patients safely on to a treatment regime.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, promoting the nomination of named link workers and actively supporting the implementation of integrated care pathways.
About You:
- Medical Degree and completion of Basic Medical Training.
- Full GMC UK registration and Licence to Practise.
- Experience of delivering evidence-based treatment within drug and alcohol/substance misuse services.
- Good understanding and knowledge of addiction medicine/psychiatry and the health and social issues affecting people who use drugs and alcohol.
- Sound knowledge and experience of clinical prescribing, including the safe and effective management of prescribed treatment.
- Experience of undertaking clinical assessments, developing care and treatment plans and reviewing treatment outcomes.
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and alongside partner agencies.
- Evidence of participation in clinical audit and clinical governance.
- Ability to provide clinical leadership, advice, guidance and support to nurses, non-medical prescribers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across Change Grow Live, primary care, mental health services, acute healthcare and other partner organisations.
- Commitment to continuing professional development, annual appraisal and GMC revalidation.
- Ability to work in a professional, compassionate and non-judgemental way with people accessing drug and alcohol treatment.
- MRCPsych or equivalent and Section 12 approval are desirable
