Introduction to YSJ University

York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us. As one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K over recent years, we have a new strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset.

The School

The School of Science, Technology and Health has a focus on high quality equitable, diverse and inclusive teaching and learning, with a priority for partnership development to enhance student success and outcomes. Sport is a vibrant department within the School and we currently offer a range of programmes across foundation year, undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. Notably, we hold validation by the Society of Sports Therapists (SST) and endorsement from the Chartered Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (CASES), for our BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science programmes, respectively.

The Role

We are seeking to appoint a full-time, Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Therapy to teach across both the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Therapy and BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science programmes. The majority of your work will involve teaching in a variety of settings, including small group tutorials/seminars/practical and lectures; assessment; and the provision of pastoral and academic support to students. You will also positively contribute towards research generation and knowledge exchange within the department. The successful candidate will join a well-established Sport Department team based in the School of Science, Technology, and Health at York St John University’s 57-acre bespoke sports park.

Require Skills and Experience

It is essential that you hold a PhD/Doctorate in Sport Science (or related discipline) and must be an accredited member of the SST, Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and/or British Association of Sport Rehabilitators (BASRaT). You will have teaching experience in modules related to Sport Science and Sports Therapy. Experience of module design, module leadership and research interests that align with the research areas within the Sport Department at York St John would be a distinct advantage.
