Full job description
Job Overview
Weekend position with growth into the future possible to support our very busy practise.
Due to growth within our hearing practice we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Wax removal specialist / Hearing Care Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality hearing services within a new modern clinic, well established on Pride Park Derby.
Ideally someone with previous experience or someone who has a nursing style background or already trained in wax removal.
Looking to bump up your hours with a weekend role, or work bank shifts etc - this role will give you those guaranteed hours every week.
£15.00 per hour, plus bonus
Working hours Saturday & Sunday
9:00AM - 17:00PM
Ongoing further career opportunities with plans for the candidate to also be trained fully in audiology via an apprenticeship degree (Hearing Aid Dispenser / Audiologist)
Competitive salary for this type of role, plus bonus.
Responsibilities
Ear Wax Removal:
- Safely perform ear wax removal procedures using manual techniques, irrigation, or microsuction in line with training and clinical protocols.
- Accurately assess whether wax removal is appropriate or if the patient needs referral.
Patient Care & Support:
- Greet and support patients throughout their visit, ensuring a high standard of care and professionalism.
- Take patient histories and identify any red flags or contraindications to treatment.
- Clearly explain procedures and provide aftercare advice.
Clinical Administration:
- Maintain accurate clinical records and patient notes.
- Manage appointment scheduling and patient follow-ups as required.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, calibrated, and well maintained in line with infection control protocols.
Experience
- Previous experience in a clinical, audiology, or healthcare setting is desirable.
- Experience in nursing / clinical awareness.
- Training in ear wax removal (e.g. BSA-approved ear care course or equivalent) is essential for practising wax removal. If you do not have this we will get you certified training,
- Experience using microsuction equipment is advantageous but not essential if training is provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage sensitively with a wide range of patients.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards.
- Basic IT skills for clinical record keeping and appointment management.
