Join the 4 Paws Kennels Team

At 4 Paws Kennels, caring for dogs isn't just a job - it's what we do every day. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with animals, isn't afraid of hard work, and takes pride in maintaining high standards.

Every day is different. From caring for energetic puppies to supporting older dogs with medication, you'll play an important role in ensuring every dog enjoys a safe, comfortable, and enriching stay.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing kennels ready for new arrivals and ensuring accommodation remains clean, safe, and comfortable throughout the day.
  • Feeding dogs according to their individual care plans and recording any dietary concerns.
  • Spending time exercising, enriching, and interacting with dogs while ensuring they are handled safely at all times.
  • Observing behaviour and reporting any health or welfare concerns to management.
  • Administering medication where required following clear instructions.
  • Assisting customers during arrivals and collections in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Driving the company vehicle for veterinary appointments or collections when required.
  • Washing bedding, cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, and helping keep the kennel running efficiently.
  • Working closely with the team to ensure every dog receives exceptional care.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys being active and thrives in a practical, hands-on role.

You'll be someone who:

  • Has previous experience working professionally with dogs.
  • Is confident handling large, powerful dogs safely and calmly.
  • Can stay organised and work efficiently during busy periods.
  • Has a good understanding of dog behaviour and animal welfare.
  • Enjoys working outdoors regardless of the weather.
  • Is physically fit and comfortable with manual work.
  • Can work well independently while also supporting the wider team.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Animal Care.
  • Experience in boarding kennels, rescue centres, veterinary practices, or working dog environments, stable hand or farm work.
  • Knowledge of administering medication.
  • Animal First Aid training.

What You'll Receive

  • Permanent full-time employment.
  • Company pension.
  • Paid annual leave.
  • Paid overtime where authorised.
  • Uniform provided.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • A supportive team environment.
  • The opportunity to work with a wide variety of dogs every day.

Before You Apply

This is a physically demanding role. You'll spend most of the day on your feet, working outdoors in all seasons, cleaning kennels, walking dogs, and handling dogs of all breeds and sizes. If you're looking for a role that's active, rewarding, and centred around excellent animal care, we'd love to hear from you.
