Part-Time Dog Handler – Holiday Cover /Part time

At Noah’s Ark Environmental Services, we’re looking for a dependable, practical individual to join our team as a part-time dog handler. This role supports holiday cover, with all shifts confirmed well in advance. This may include a full week in some instances. (This role is NOT for someone who will need to rely on it as there main income)

Shifts are scheduled based on cover requirements and include a usual pattern of two shifts on two shifts off this often would be over the weekend —ideal for someone who loves to drive, enjoys responsibility and supporting dogs animal welfare, and purposeful work.

What you’ll be doing:

• Handling and transporting stray and seized dogs, including large and occasionally dangerous breeds
• Prioritising jobs and planning routes to respond efficiently to each situation
• Adapting your approach depending on the dog and environment
• Working closely with a committed, professional team
• Accurately completing records and Excel grids
• Engaging with members of the public and other agencies with a professional and calm telephone manner
• Optional support with rehoming or warrant work, if this is of interest

Please note:

This role involves handling large dogs and may include physically demanding tasks such as lifting and controlling animals. A good level of physical fitness is required to safely perform these duties. What you’ll bring:

• Previous dog handling experience is preferred
• A calm, confident approach with strong handling skills
• Familiarity with using Excel and maintaining accurate records
• A clear and friendly communication style, especially over the phone
• A full manual UK driving licence (an automatic licence is not sufficient for this role)
• Reliability, sound judgement, and a team-focused attitude
• Full clean drivers license.
• All employees are DBS checked.

• PROFESSIONAL dog handling: 1 year (preferred)
• dog handling: 2 years (required)
• Manual driving: 3 years (required)
