Overview
Downlands Kennels is a busy boarding kennels and cattery in Cholsey Oxfordshire.

We are looking for a full time Senior Kennel Assistant to join our team. The role is 5 days a week including weekends and bank holidays. The hours are 8am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.

Previous experience working with dogs and / or cats is essential as is a real passion for giving excellent care to the dogs and cats staying with us.

Role

• Maintaining the cleanliness of the kennels and cat units
• Exercising dogs in all weathers
• Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns
• Preparing and distributing food including special diets
• Giving medication to both dogs and cats
• Welcoming customers
• Answering phone calls, taking bookings and payments
• Bathing and brushing dogs
• Keeping communal and exterior areas clean and tidy

Requirements

• Experienced at working with dogs and / or cats is essential, ideally with an animal management diploma
• A good team player but also with the confidence and initiative to work independently
• Good communication skills with both the team and customers
• Physically fit as the role is physically demanding
• Reliable and punctual
• Ideally to have your own transport as we are in a rural location
• Above all to have a real passion for giving excellent care to the dogs and cats staying with us
