Full job description
We are a family run, fully licensed breeding programme, based in the Scottish Countryside. At the heart of our breeding programme is a deep commitment to the ethical and responsible breeding of Australian Labradoodles, which we have done to the highest standard for over 20 years.
Our mission is to breed and raise well-rounded, health tested, and emotionally balanced puppies who go on to become beloved family pets and life-changing therapy or assistance dogs. To ensure our puppies and dogs receive round the clock, 5 star care, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate part time Dog and Puppy Care Assistant to join our small team.
If successful you will have the opportunity to work with newborn puppies, older puppies and adult dogs. Training will always be provided on the handling and care of very young puppies. Although this is an incredibly rewarding job for the right person, it is a hands-on, physically active role suited to an individual who is passionate about animal care and committed to maintaining the very highest standards of care and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities:
•Daily care of dogs and puppies, including cleaning, age appropriate feeding, grooming, and general health monitoring
•Walking and exercising dogs in all weather conditions
•Socialisation of young puppies, including early developmental handling and enrichment activities
•Cleaning and maintaining all areas to a high standard, following strict hygiene and biosecurity protocols
•Administering routine treatments such as worming and any prescribed medicines
•Grooming
•Assisting with general animal husbandry and record keeping
The ideal candidate will:
•Be trustworthy, warm, compassionate, and dedicated to animal care
•Be reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently as well as part of a small team
•Be able to communicate effectively
•Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
•Demonstrate a keen interest in pursuing a career in animal care
•Have excellent attention to detail, especially with regard to hygiene and welfare standards.
•Have a full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle (essential, due to rural location not accessible by public transport)
Previous experience in animal care is very desirable but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude. The successful candidate will normally work 3x (8 hour) shifts per week but may be asked to perform additional cover in the absence of members of staff on either a short or longer term basis. You will be required to work every second weekend which will be set but all other shifts will be laid out in a monthly rota and given to you before the start of each month.
