Full job description

Do you love dogs and want a career – not just a job?

Platinum Boarding Kennels are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our friendly team.

This is a hands-on role focused on high standards of dog care and welfare. Full training will be provided, so experience isn’t essential — but a positive attitude, common sense and willingness to follow procedures are key.

Hours

Flexible mostly every other weekend, bank holidays but some weekdays if available and required

Possible working times

  • Monday - Friday: 8am–5pm
  • Saturday & Sunday: 7am–4pm

(Some flexibility may be required.)

The role includes:

  • Daily care of dogs of all sizes (feeding, cleaning, enrichment and basic health checks)
  • Cleaning kennels and work areas to a high standard
  • Working safely with dogs and following handling instructions
  • Completing basic care records and paperwork
  • Friendly, professional interaction with clients
  • Working as part of a supportive team

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, proactive and willing to learn
  • Comfortable in a physical, outdoor role
  • Committed to dog welfare and team standards

Key responsibilities

· Carry out daily dog care routines to the required standard, including feeding, cleaning, enrichment and health checks, ensuring the welfare of all dogs at all times.

· Work closely with trainers and site management to support the safe and smooth movement of dogs around the site, following agreed schedules, handling instructions and any behaviour or risk notes.

· Follow all kennel protocols, SOPs, licensing requirements and health and safety rules at all times.

· Maintain clean, safe kennels and working areas in line with infection control, biosecurity and site maintenance procedures, including reporting maintenance or safety issues promptly.

· Accurately complete all required records, including feeding, medication, welfare checks, cleaning logs, kennel cards and daily care notes, ensuring information is clear, factual and up to date.

· Escalate any welfare, health or behaviour concerns immediately to management or trainers in line with Company procedures.

· Communicate with clients in a professional, polite and timely manner, including during drop-offs, collections and telephone enquiries, in line with Company standards.

· Support the completion of accurate paperwork relating to stays, services provided and any additional requirements, ensuring information is recorded correctly and passed to management as required.

· Assist in maintaining clear, timely and accurate records that support correct handovers, billing accuracy and audit or licensing requirements.

· Work cooperatively as part of the kennel team, supporting colleagues and junior staff and contributing to a calm, professional working environment.

· Follow reasonable management instructions and rota arrangements and engage positively with supervision and training.

· Physically fit for an active, outdoor role (cleaning, lifting, exercising dogs) in all seasons.

Expected behaviours

· Reliable, proactive and supportive

· Willing to learn and follow procedures

· Positive attitude and respectful communication

· Acts in the best interests of dog welfare and team standards

Training and development

  • Attend mandatory and role-specific training as required (First Aid, Health & Safety, SOP refreshers).

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company pension

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Southwell NG25: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Work Location: In person
