EQA Positions Available: Animal Musculoskeletal Therapies (Animal Hydrotherapy, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy)

Gatehouse Awards (GA) is a professional, Ofqual-recognised Awarding Organisation, specialising in the development and award of high-quality vocational qualifications in specialist sectors.

With a growing portfolio of qualifications in animal care and animal therapies, GA works closely with industry experts and centres of excellence to ensure our qualifications meet the highest standards of professional practice.

Through our network of approved centres and rigorous quality assurance processes, we are committed to maintaining excellence in education and training across our specialist sectors.

GA employs External Quality Assurers to conduct visits to Approved Centres for the purpose of conducting External Quality Assurance prior to the awarding of GA qualifications. The role includes External Moderation of assessment and ensuring compliance with GA’s Centre Approval Criteria as well as monitoring the Centre’s adherence to relevant regulations, legislation and best practice guidance. Regionally based External Quality Assurers work on a self-employed/freelance basis.

· Equine Hydrotherapy

· Canine Hydrotherapy

· Animal Osteopathy

· Animal Physiotherapy

Duties & Responsibilities:

· To deliver exceptional customer service to all GA customers, Centres and Candidates

· To carry out a programme of visits to centres and report findings within the required timescales, for a variety of purposes, including external moderation and verification visits, with the duty of developing and monitoring action plans as appropriate, in accordance with Gatehouse Awards’ systems and processes

· To provide centres with up-to-date information, support and advice during and in between visits, as required

· To send visit reports to the Head of Centre and GA within the required timescale

· To attend GA’s EQA training events, standardisation events and other meetings as required and be willing to use technology-based approaches for communication and centre support

· To identify and share best practices in the specific subject area and in the fields of assessment and quality assurance

· To declare any conflicts of interest that could impact on the role

· To maintain own CPD to a minimum of 30 hours per year and maintain a record of such

· Abide by the terms of conditions as stated in the service level agreement for EQAs and not to operate outside the sphere of responsibility defined within this job description

· To submit invoices and/or expenses claim forms within the required timescale

Person Specification:

· A minimum of 5 years of experience in the subject area or similar clinical field

· Have current knowledge and experience of working within the sector or associated professional/occupational area within the last 2 – 3 years (currency of occupational experience is vital)

· Hold qualifications in the subject area(s) to be quality assured/a related clinical subject (either vocational qualifications at or above the level of the qualification being quality assured, a degree or higher)

· Maintain professional membership and hold adequate insurance for the activities covered by the specific subject area (where applicable)

· Hold relevant qualifications in assessing and quality assurance

· Have understanding and at least two years’ experience of assessment, moderation and effective quality assurance mechanisms

· Have understanding and experience of external quality assurance

· Be able to provide evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the field of assessment and delivery of vocational qualifications

· Fully committed to ongoing CPD in the occupational area in which you’ll be working

· Have a good working knowledge of the specifications that comprise the area of expertise for the role

· Have a thorough understanding of the qualifications system and national policies, including equality and diversity, candidate access, and safeguarding

· Willing/able to travel where required, including full clean UK driving licence and access to own vehicle

· Be able to develop and monitor clear action plans

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, IT skills, time management skills, able to meet deadlines, have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team

· Access to a PC/laptop, internet connection and a secure personal email account

· Be IT literate in using Microsoft Office, emails, internet and other non-specialist IT software

· Be receptive to using electronic methods of EQA, e.g. e-portfolios and Secure File Sharing (FTP) and Storage facilities

· Hold appropriate qualifications for the role, e.g. D35, V2 awards or Level 4 Certificate/Award in External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices, or equivalent (or be willing to work towards these)

References are required.

Salary/Rate of Pay

Competitive daily rate starting from £240, with enhanced rates available commensurate with specialist expertise and experience in the relevant subject area. Additional allowances for travel and expenses as per GA policy.

Time Commitment

Flexible engagement with a minimum requirement of two days per year, plus attendance at two training and standardisation meetings. Additional opportunities are available depending on the number of approved centres and candidate volumes in your specialist area.
