Dog Daycare Operations Manager, South Suffolk

£36,000 + bonus | Full-time, Monday–Friday | Hands-on management role

We’re an established, growing dog daycare and boarding business in South Suffolk. We’re moving our daycare into a purpose-converted barn and need an experienced manager to lead the move, build the team and run the service day to day.

This is a real management job, not an admin one. You’ll be in the barn with the dogs, leading a small team, looking after customers and growing the business, with the owners’ backing and a clear brief.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the move into the barn: plan the set-up, get the site ready, train the team and introduce dogs gradually
• Recruit, induct and manage daycare staff; run rotas covering 08:00–18:00, Monday–Friday
• Put dog welfare first: assessments, suitable groups, enrichment, rest, hygiene and calm, reward-based handling
• Keep us compliant with licensing, planning, insurance, health and safety and safeguarding
• Manage enquiries, assessments, bookings, payments and customer relationships
• Grow attendance sustainably towards 20+ dogs a day through referrals, local partnerships and agreed marketing
• Own the daycare budget and report weekly on attendance, revenue, costs and welfare

What we’re looking for:

• Hands-on experience in dog daycare, boarding or a similar canine-care setting, with confident group supervision and a good eye for behaviour and welfare
• Experience leading a team: recruiting, training, rotas and fair handling of performance issues
• Working knowledge of animal-activity licensing, health and safety and record-keeping
• Commercial sense and comfort with bookings, budgets and performance figures
• Calm under pressure, organised, and clear with customers and staff

Desirable: a canine-care or behaviour qualification, canine first aid, and experience opening or expanding a service.

Pay and benefits:

• £36,000 per year, with a discretionary annual bonus linked to profitability, retention, welfare and team performance

The practical bits:
The daycare runs 50 hours a week; your contracted hours and shift pattern will be agreed with you. The role includes practical dog care, cleaning and outdoor work in all weathers. Reasonable adjustments considered.
