We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join our friendly kitchen at the The Bull and Dog, Coton, Shropshire (located between Whitchurch and Wem)

The candidate needs to have the skills and personality to work and take responsibility within a team, as well as helping to develop the menu and preparing and cooking quality fresh food in a busy environment whilst maintaining a high standard of food hygiene.

We cook fresh food from scratch using local ingredients where possible. The ever changing menu has a range of pub classics as well as a mix of dishes influenced from around the world. We encourage all the chefs to get involved in developing the menu and improving the business going forwards.

You'll need to be hard working (obvs), reliable, have a good sense of humour (no shouty chefs please) and be outgoing enough to build a rapport with our front of house team and regular guests.

Hours are 48 per week, 5 days on and 2 days (together) off. You'll need to work most weekends (surprise, surprise) but can always book the occasional weekend off for Granny's hen weekend etc.

This would be an ideal position for someone who has previously held Senior Chef roles but looking to take a step back; alternatively someone looking to develop their skills and improve their experience within a strong kitchen environment.

Oh, and you have to drive as well. We're a bit out in the sticks, the bus only runs once a year and we don't have any accommodation.

History

Sketchydog Limited started over 17 years ago in 2008 with our first pub The Lowfield Inn in Marton. Since then we have grown to 4 pubs all located along the Shropshire/North Wales border. All of our pubs pride themselves on being great local pubs offering excellent beer, wine and food to a wide market. The Bull and Dog was our 3rd pub, opening in Feb 2017, and is situated in the village of Coton in Shropshire, approx 3 miles from Wem, 5 miles from Whitchurch and a 20 min drive from Shrewsbury. It is a cosy 18th century village pub which is very popular and has a strong local following.
