Part-Time Dog Handler/Driver - Permanent position with the potential to progress to full-time

You may have worked as a delivery driver or in another driving-based role and genuinely enjoy being on the road, as driving is a major part of this position and will account for a significant amount of your working time. At Noah’s Ark Environmental Services, we are looking for a reliable individual to join our professional team as a permanent part-time Dog Handler. We want someone who can become a valued, long-term member of our team, with the potential to progress into a full-time role as opportunities become available.

The role will include scheduled shifts, often following a two-shifts-on, two-shifts-off pattern. Weekend working will be required. It would suit someone who enjoys driving, working independently, taking responsibility and supporting animal welfare.

What you’ll be doing

• Handling and transporting stray and seized dogs, including large and occasionally challenging or dangerous breeds
• Prioritising jobs and planning routes to respond efficiently
• Assessing each situation and adapting your approach to suit the dog and environment
• Working closely with a committed and professional team
• Completing records and Excel spreadsheets accurately
• Communicating calmly and professionally with members of the public, local authorities and other agencies
• Providing additional support with rehoming or warrant work, where required and if this is of interest

What you’ll bring

• Previous dog-handling experience is preferred
• A calm, confident and capable approach around dogs
• The ability to remain composed in challenging or unpredictable situations
• Good judgement and the confidence to use your initiative
• Basic experience using Excel and maintaining accurate records
• A clear, friendly and professional telephone manner
• Reliability and a team-focused attitude
• A full, clean manual UK driving licence - an automatic-only licence is not sufficient
• A willingness to complete a DBS check

Physical requirements

This role involves handling large dogs and may include physically demanding duties, such as lifting equipment and safely controlling animals. A good level of physical fitness is therefore required.

Full training will be provided, and you will be supported by an experienced, knowledgeable and passionate team.
