Full job description

Overview

We are an established canine breeding and training establishment looking for reliable, hard-working, and energetic Canine Care Assistants to join our team on a flexible, contractual basis.

We are seeking up to 3 people to cover various shift patterns. The role is physically active and predominantly focused on routine cleaning, maintenance, hygiene, and general dog care across our indoor and outdoor areas. You will be helping us maintain our high standards of cleanliness, welfare, and routine for our adult dogs (and occasionally assisting with young litters where applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Sanitation & Hygiene: Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining indoor and outdoor areas to rigorous standards.
  • Routine Maintenance: Sweeping, hosing main yards, keeping shared spaces immaculate, and assisting with heavy lifting tasks such as moving crates, housing, supplies, or equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Basic Grooming & General Care: Bathing, brushing, drying, coat care, and water replenishment.
  • Puppy Care & Socialisation (Bonus/Optional): Assisting with routine bedding changes, hygiene, and gentle handling/socialisation for young litters where relevant.
  • Health Monitoring: Keeping an attentive eye on dog well-being, reporting any health, physical, or behavioral observations.

Qualifications

  • Physically Fit & Active: Able to handle active manual work and heavy lifting in all weathers.
  • Reliable & Punctual: Dependability is critical in this role.
  • Experienced with Dogs: Practical, confident experience handling adult dogs is required. (Experience handling young puppies is a bonus, but not essential).
  • High Standards & Autonomy: Able to work independently, meticulously following standard operating procedures and adhering to health and safety protocols at all times.
  • Transport: Due to our rural location, own reliable transport is essential.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends or evenings as needed

Shift Patterns & Flexibility

  • 5-Hour Shifts (e.g., Morning 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM or Afternoon 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM).
  • Flexible Allocation: Shifts distributed among up to 3 team members based on mutual agreement (may include weekend shifts).

Preference wil be given to applicants who hold are are currently studying for appropriate Animal Care Quaifications

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 5.0 per week

Work Location: In person
