Job Overview
As a Kennel Assistant at Elmview Kennels, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and care of animals in our facility. This position involves working closely with various breeds of dogs and cats, providing them with a safe and clean environment. You will be responsible for daily care tasks, including feeding, exercising, and monitoring the health of the animals. Your passion for animal welfare and strong customer service skills will contribute to creating a positive experience for both pets and their owners.

Elmview Kennels is also the home of Auras Dogs UK a small independent dog rescue charity and the role will involve working with these dogs too as well as opportunities to become more involved in dog rescue if that is a preferred area of development

Duties

  • Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising.
  • Maintain cleanliness in kennels and common areas by performing regular cleaning tasks.
  • Monitor the health and behaviour of animals, reporting any concerns to management team.
  • Assist with administering medications as directed by supervisors.
  • Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their animals' well-being and address any questions or concerns.
  • Support the team in managing arrival and departure processes for pets.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed to maintain a secure environment for both animals and staff.

Skills

  • Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and provide excellent care.
  • Experience in animal care is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger breeds or moving supplies.
  • A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and monitoring animal health.
  • Team player with good communication skills to work collaboratively with colleagues.

Driving Licence and own transport essential due to rural location.
