Full job description

Are you an experienced Manager and qualified animal carer? We are looking for a team manager to organise and lead staff within the kennels. This is a hands-on role so you must be confident with dogs and cats, have attention to detail when cleaning, exceptional customer service and unparalleled organisational skills for rotas and staff management. Little Green is a dog/cat boarding kennel with a veterinary clinic and training facilities on site with the ongoing care of 80 dogs and 15 cats so there is a lot going on!

We are looking for experienced and/or qualified individual(s) to join us. Your role will be to manage and organise the team, clean, feed, walk and care for animals on site and to liaise with owners on the running of the business. This is a senior role, so you must be able to supervise, manage and teach junior staff, and apprentices and prioritise workloads to ensure all tasks/services are performed each day and plan ahead on rotas as we work 7 days a week throughout school holidays (our busiest weeks).

Customer service is key in this role as you will be checking in/out guests and up-selling additional services such as grooming or products. We are seeking a commercially minded, detailed person who will support the management team by ensuring the kennels are clean and running smoothly and all targets are met.

Your job will be cleaning and supervising the staff cleaning the kennels, feeding, and walking dogs but also bathing/brushing, training/enrichment and giving medication. This is a hands-on position that can be fast-paced and physically demanding (dog food bags are heavy!). You must be competent with computers as we use software for reservations, guest report cards and internal communication.

Ideally, you are experienced in any animal vocation (grooming, kennels, vet nursing etc). However, we will consider applicants who bring a new relevant skill to the team. No formal academic qualifications are necessarily required as we offer on-site Level 2 and Level 3 Animal Care qualifications if you don't possess these but animal experience and confidence is needed. You will be assessing the suitability of animals to enter the kennels so you must be confident to read a pet's body language and be able to deal with restraining techniques where necessary.

If you don't already have the necessary skills and experience for this position but are still interested in joining us then we are also recruiting for a junior and weekend cleaner position.

We will consider full-time, part-time and/or job share for the right candidate(s) working 1-5 days a week so 9-45 hours.

Must be available for a 7am start, available for weekend and school holiday shifts and have transport to CF64 4HA (no public transport in area - a bicycle may work, but a car is advisable). We have a company van for moving animals so a driving licence is strongly advantageous.
