CAPITAL DOG WALKING & PET SERVICES

We are looking for a caring, compassionate and reliable self-employed dog walker to join our team.

The role is initially offered on a temporary basis for approximately 8 weeks, providing cover during this period. However, there may be an opportunity for ongoing work after the initial period if the right candidate is a good fit for our team.

Providing an amazing and consistent experience for our clients is really important to us, so we are looking for someone who is reliable, committed and genuinely loves working with dogs.

The role will be Monday to Friday, generally between 9.30am and 2.30pm. Consistent availability throughout these hours is essential.

We are looking for someone who loves the outdoors, come rain or shine, and feels confident walking and handling a pack of dogs both on and off the lead.

Duties

  • Attending 'Meet & Greets' with new clients and their dogs.
  • Collecting dogs from their homes using your own vehicle and dropping them home afterwards.
  • Carrying out walks with up to 5 dogs at one time, so you will need to feel confident handling a pack.
  • Shadowing a member of the team before taking dogs out independently.
  • Taking good quality photos and videos of the dogs, which may be used on our social media.
  • Providing mental stimulation for dogs during walks as well as physical exercise.
  • Cleaning up after dogs during walks and disposing of waste properly.
  • Maintaining a professional and friendly demeanour when interacting with clients and their pets.
  • Ensuring the dogs in your care are safe, happy and well looked after at all times.

Requirements

  • Own your own vehicle that can comfortably fit up to 5 dogs.
  • Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Excellent route planning and logistics skills.
  • Reliable and dependable, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and comfortable spending several hours outdoors each day.
  • Available Monday to Friday between approximately 9.30am and 2.30pm.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • A pet management or care certificate/qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Previous experience working with dogs is preferred.

Benefits

  • Initial temporary period of approximately 8 weeks.
  • Self-employed role with weekly payments.
  • Full training and shadowing provided before walking dogs independently.
  • Opportunity to work additional weekend hours for extra income.
  • Potential for ongoing work after the initial temporary period.

Schedule

The exact finish time may vary slightly from day to day depending on traffic, pick-ups and drop-offs. The current estimated schedule is:

  • Monday: 9.30am–1.30pm
  • Tuesday: 9.30am–1.00pm
  • Wednesday: 9.30am–1.00pm
  • Thursday: 9.30am–2.00pm
  • Friday: 9.30am–2.00pm

There is also the option to work additional hours at weekends for extra income.

Estimated income: £380–£450 per week, paid weekly, depending on the number of dogs walked.
