About Us:

Helping Hounds is a pet service company with heart. We donate 15% of our profits to animal rescue organisations and are on a mission to support rescue dogs everywhere. Founded in January 2024 and we’ve already donated over £3k to animal rescue charities. By joining our team, you’ll not only provide top-quality care for pets but also contribute to a meaningful cause.

We’re looking for a dedicated, animal-loving dog walker to join us in a permanent role and grow alongside our business.

The Role:

As a Dog Walker at Helping Hounds, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Safely walking and caring for dogs of various breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
  • Following specific instructions from pet owners regarding care, routines, and any special needs.
  • Managing your schedule to ensure punctuality and reliability for every walk.
  • Communicating professionally with pet owners to build trust and provide updates about their pets.
  • Keeping pets safe, happy, mentally stimulated and well-exercised while enjoying the outdoors.
  • We require you to fulfil jobs in and around Henlow. We currently operate in Lower & Upper Stondon, Shefford, Clifton, Henlow, Meppershall, Shillington, Apsley End, Gravenhurst, Ickleford, Pirton and Holwell. We can find you jobs in your local area.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Love animals, nature, and working independently.
  • Be responsible, organised, and punctual.
  • Have excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Be physically fit and capable of walking multiple dogs or longer distances.
  • Be over 18 years old.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and have reliable access to transportation.
  • Pass a full DBS check (Helping Hounds will assist with this if necessary).
  • Commit to a minimum 12-month contract with Helping Hounds.
  • Happy be happy to be a self-employed independent contractor.

What We Provide:

At Helping Hounds, we want to set you up for success. We will provide:

  • Pet first aid training to prepare you for any unexpected situations.
  • A complete dog walking kit with all the equipment needed to get started.
  • A Helping Hounds jumper for your role—you’re free to wear it with casual or leisure wear, so you’re comfortable while working outdoors.
  • Advertising and client acquisition—we’ll find the dogs for you, so you can focus on walking!

You will be employed as an independent contractor, meaning you’ll be self-employed. However, Helping Hounds will support you every step of the way, from finding clients to providing training.

Your Journey with Us:

  • Start by shadowing Tarni, the founder of Helping Hounds, to learn the ropes.
  • Gradually take on your own clients, starting with part-time hours and building up to full-time hours (9 am to 3 pm, up to 5 days a week).
  • Additional pet sitting and visit opportunities are available for bonus pay.
