Full job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pyrotechnics and Drugs Dog Handler to join our existing team. The successful candidate will work alongside their own specially trained dog to detect pyrotechnics and illegal drugs and ensure safety and security at various locations including stadiums, events and festivals. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent canine handling skills, and the ability to work in various environments.

RESPONSIBILTIES

o Conduct thorough searches using detection dogs to identify pyrotechnics and illegal drugs.

o Handle and care for detection dog, ensuring their welfare, health, and training. You will be solely responsible for the care of your dog.

o Perform routine and random searches at gates and public areas.

o Respond to security alerts and assist emergency services as required.

o Maintain detailed records of search activities and incidents.

o Collaborate with security teams and provide support in threat assessment and mitigation.

o Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

BEHAVIOURS

o Proven experience as a dog handler, with a primary focus on pyrotechnics and drug detection.

o Strong understanding of canine behaviour and training techniques.

o Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

o Excellent observational and communication skills.

o Physical fitness to handle active duty and perform searches in various environments.

o Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel using own vehicle.

o High level of integrity and professionalism.

o Proficient in remaining calm under pressure.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Level 3 NASDU certification
  • Provide own dog and vehicle.
  • Evidence of your right to work within the UK.
  • Provide evidence of your insurance documents
  • Hold a valid enhanced DBS
  • SIA Door Supervisor Licence
