We work with main contractors, care homes, hotels, facilities management providers and commercial clients across the UK, helping to ensure buildings are safe and properly protected.
Our services include fire stopping, fire curtains, fire doors and passive fire protection surveys.
As part of our continued growth, we are expanding our Fire Door Division and are looking for an experienced and reliable Fire Door Joiner / Installer to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled joiner with experience in fire door installation and remedial works who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering professional fire door installations and remedial works across a varied portfolio of projects throughout the UK.
The Role
Based from our head office in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, this is a site-based position involving travel to projects nationwide.
You will be responsible for installing, adjusting, repairing and carrying out remedial works to fire doors across a range of commercial and residential environments.
Working alongside our project management team, surveyors, clients and other trades, you will ensure that all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard, following the relevant installation instructions and project specifications.
Our projects range from individual fire door replacements and remedial works through to large-scale commercial installations, including hotels, care homes, multi-occupancy developments and other commercial properties.
The role will suit someone with a strong background in carpentry or joinery who understands the importance of quality workmanship, attention to detail and correctly installed fire doors.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new fire doorsets, including door leaves, frames, seals, glazing and associated ironmongery.
- Carry out fire door repairs, adjustments and remedial works to existing installations.
- Remove and replace defective or damaged fire doors and associated components.
- Fit and adjust hinges, door closers, locks, latches, intumescent seals, smoke seals and other fire door hardware.
- Ensure all installations are completed correctly and in accordance with the relevant installation instructions and project requirements.
- Check door gaps, clearances, alignment, operation and closing performance to ensure doors function correctly.
- Identify defects, installation issues and additional remedial requirements, reporting these to the relevant project manager or surveyor.
- Maintain accurate photographic records of completed works and any issues identified on site.
- Complete job sheets, installation records and other required project documentation.
- Work professionally alongside other trades, site managers, clients and subcontractors.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment, following site-specific health and safety procedures.
- Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used and maintained appropriately.
- Manage daily workloads and work efficiently to meet project programmes and deadlines.
- Represent Flux Fire Protection professionally when working on client sites.
- Assist with general carpentry and joinery tasks associated with fire door installations where required.
Experience and Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a practical background in joinery or carpentry and hands-on experience installing, repairing or maintaining fire doors.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a joiner, carpenter or fire door installer.
- Practical experience installing fire doorsets and carrying out fire door remedial works.
- A good understanding of fire door components, including frames, seals, hinges, closers, locks and ironmongery.
- Knowledge of correct installation methods and the importance of maintaining the integrity and performance of fire doors.
- The ability to work from drawings, specifications and installation instructions.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- The ability to identify defects and report issues that may affect the performance or condition of fire doors.
- A responsible, professional and safety-conscious approach to work.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise professionally with site personnel and project managers.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience working specifically with fire doorsets.
- Relevant fire door installation or inspection training.
- Experience working on commercial projects, hotels, care homes or multi-occupancy developments.
- Experience completing photographic records, installation checklists and digital job reports.
- A relevant carpentry or joinery qualification.
- Previous experience working on construction sites.
What We Offer
- A competitive salary and benefits package, based on experience.
- Company vehicle and fuel card.
- The opportunity to work with an established passive fire protection contractor.
- A varied workload across commercial and residential projects throughout the UK.
- The opportunity to develop your technical skills and knowledge within the specialist fire door sector.
- Ongoing career development opportunities within a rapidly expanding Fire Door Division.
- The chance to become part of a growing team, with opportunities to progress as the division develops.
- A friendly and relaxed working environment, with regular company social events.
- Access to excellent on-site facilities at our Mirfield head office, including a gym, luxury spa, sauna, hot pools, steam rooms, roof bar and terrace, and restaurant.
About the Opportunity
