Installation Manager – Eden Windows

Location: Orpington, Kent (covering Kent and the South East)
Salary: £37,000–£47,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

About Eden Windows

Eden Windows is an established, family-run home improvement company specialising in high-quality PVC and aluminium windows, doors and replacement living-space solutions across Kent and the South East.

As part of the Joedan Group, we combine the personal service and values of a family-run business with the manufacturing expertise, resources and support of an established industry group.

We have built our reputation on quality products, professional installations and excellent customer service.

We are now looking for an experienced, proactive and hands-on Installation Manager to take ownership of our installation operation and help us maintain and improve the standards our customers expect.

This is a key position within the business, requiring someone with strong leadership skills, practical industry experience, excellent organisational ability and a genuine willingness to get involved.

We are not looking for someone who wants to manage the installation department solely from behind a desk.

We need someone who can lead and support our fitting teams, carry out regular site visits, assist with service work, solve problems and, when necessary, pick up their tools and help get an installation completed.

At the same time, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the installation department, working closely with our office team and reporting regularly to Eden Windows management and the wider Joedan Group.

The Role

As Installation Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Eden Windows' installation operation.

This includes managing and supporting our fitting teams, overseeing the Installation Office, coordinating installation schedules, monitoring workmanship, managing service and remedial work, controlling costs and ensuring our customers receive a professional installation experience.

You will divide your time between the office and visiting installations, providing practical support and making sure work is progressing as planned.

We operate as a close-knit team, and everyone is expected to get involved when required.

That could mean visiting a site to check progress, helping a fitter resolve a technical issue, attending a service call, assisting with materials or deliveries, speaking directly with a customer or joining an installation team to help complete a job on schedule.

However, this is first and foremost a management position.

Your responsibility is to ensure the installation department is organised, fitting teams are productive, problems are resolved quickly and the operation runs efficiently.

We want someone who takes ownership, leads by example and gets things done.

Key ResponsibilitiesInstallation Team Management & Site Support

  • Lead, manage and support our fitting teams on a daily basis.
  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor installation progress, workmanship and quality.
  • Ensure fitting teams are working efficiently and installations are progressing to schedule.
  • Provide practical and technical support when installation challenges arise.
  • Be prepared to assist fitting teams on site, including hands-on fitting work when required to help complete jobs or prevent delays.
  • Attend service calls, investigate installation problems and carry out minor remedial works where appropriate.
  • Support teams with more challenging installations or situations requiring additional assistance.
  • Monitor fitter attendance, reliability, productivity, workmanship and performance.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, site cleanliness and customer care.
  • Help recruit, develop and maintain reliable, high-performing installation teams.

Installation Planning & Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Installation Office.
  • Work closely with the office team to manage installation schedules, fitting capacity and available resources.
  • Ensure installations are properly planned and prepared before work begins.
  • Check that products, materials, equipment and relevant information are available for each installation.
  • Coordinate deliveries and assist with materials and logistics when required.
  • Identify potential delays, technical issues and operational problems before they affect installation dates.
  • Monitor installation progress and ensure outstanding works are followed through to completion.
  • Maintain clear communication between the Installation Office, fitting teams, surveyors, suppliers and customers.
  • Improve planning, organisation and working practices to increase departmental efficiency.

Quality, Service & Customer Care

  • Ensure installations are completed to Eden Windows' quality standards and relevant industry requirements.
  • Oversee service calls, remedial works and outstanding installation issues.
  • Take ownership of installation-related customer concerns and complaints.
  • Visit customers and sites when necessary to investigate and resolve problems.
  • Ensure customers are kept informed throughout their installation journey.
  • Identify recurring installation issues and introduce improvements to prevent repeat problems.
  • Reduce unnecessary return visits by promoting a right-first-time approach.
  • Maintain appropriate health and safety standards across installation activities.
  • Work closely with Sales, Surveying and Customer Care to deliver a consistent customer experience.

Commercial Control & Group Reporting

  • Monitor installation labour costs, fitting productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and reduce wasted visits, unnecessary expenditure, remedial costs and material losses.
  • Ensure fitting teams and available resources are being used effectively.
  • Monitor completed installations, outstanding works and installation performance.
  • Provide regular operational and performance reports to the Managing Director and wider Joedan Group management team.
  • Report on installation capacity, forward schedules, service workloads, costs and departmental performance.
  • Identify operational risks, recurring problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help develop systems, procedures and working practices to improve quality, efficiency and profitability.
  • Take responsibility for achieving agreed departmental objectives and maintaining high operational standards.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Installation Manager who understands the realities of running a busy window and door installation operation.

You will be someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems and taking responsibility.

You must be comfortable managing the department from an operational and commercial perspective, but equally willing and capable of getting involved practically when circumstances require it.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience managing installations within the window, door, glazing or home improvement industry.
  • Strong practical knowledge of PVC and aluminium window and door installation.
  • A fitting or technical installation background, with the ability to assist on site when required.
  • Experience managing employed and self-employed fitting teams.
  • Good understanding of installation scheduling, labour allocation and resource planning.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.
  • Confidence dealing directly with customers and resolving difficult situations.
  • Good commercial awareness and an understanding of labour costs, productivity and installation profitability.
  • Experience managing service work, remedials and installation quality.
  • Confidence using computer-based job management systems and producing management reports.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Experience with conservatory roofs, replacement roofs and associated living-space installations would also be an advantage.

Most importantly, we want someone who takes genuine ownership of their responsibilities.

Someone who sees a problem and works out how to resolve it rather than waiting for somebody else to take responsibility.

Someone who earns the respect of the fitting teams through their knowledge, leadership and willingness to get involved.

What Success Looks Like

A successful Installation Manager at Eden Windows will create an installation department that is organised, efficient, accountable and consistently delivers high-quality work.

That means:

  • Fitting teams are well managed, supported and productive.
  • Regular site visits ensure quality and progress are being monitored.
  • Installations are properly planned, with the correct products, materials and information available.
  • Jobs are completed on schedule wherever possible.
  • Problems are identified early and resolved quickly.
  • Service calls and remedial works are managed efficiently.
  • Customers receive clear, professional communication.
  • The Installation Office is organised and working effectively.
  • Labour costs, wasted visits and unnecessary expenses are controlled.
  • Installation performance is monitored and reported clearly to management and the Joedan Group.
  • The department continuously improves its performance, quality and customer service.

Ultimately, we want someone who can take control of the installation operation, support and develop the team and make sure the department runs smoothly without constant supervision.

What We Offer

  • Salary of £40,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
  • A key management position within an established, family-run business.
  • The stability, resources and support of being part of the Joedan Group.
  • A close-knit, supportive working environment.
  • The opportunity to take genuine ownership of the installation department.
  • Direct involvement in operational decisions and business improvements.
  • The opportunity to develop the installation teams, improve systems and make a real difference to the business.
