Full job description

DV Security Cleared Painter & Decorators / Carpenters – Long‑Running Overseas Project – £350/day

Role overview

We are building a small team of experienced Painter & Decorators and Carpenters with current DV security clearance to work on a long‑running construction/refurbishment project overseas for a UK defence‑sector client. PLEASE DO NOT apply for this job if you do not hold an active or recently lapsed DV Security Clearance, as only those with it are eligible.
You’ll be joining an established delivery team on a secure site, carrying out high‑quality finishes, maintenance and improvement works in a controlled environment.

Key details

  • Location: Overseas (non‑UK), working on a secure site for a British client.
  • Contract type: Long‑term project, with potential for repeat rotations for the right people.
  • Clearance: Developed Vetting (DV) – active and current (or very recently lapsed and eligible for rapid re‑activation).

If you do not already hold DV clearance, you unfortunately cannot be considered for this particular project due to contractual requirements.

Painter & Decorator duties

  • High‑quality internal and external painting and decorating on a large, secure facility.
  • Surface prep: filling, sanding, priming, and making good to an excellent standard.
  • Working with a range of finishes (emulsion, gloss, specialist coatings) to a consistent, high level of detail.

Carpenter duties

  • First‑ and second‑fix carpentry on doors, frames, linings and associated joinery.
  • Installation, adjustment and maintenance of internal fixtures, fitted furniture and fabric repairs.
  • Reading drawings and working closely with site management to deliver works safely and on programme.

Candidate requirements

  • Current DV clearance tied to UK defence / government work.
  • Strong track record as a Painter & Decorator or Carpenter on commercial, industrial or high‑security projects.
  • Full toolkit, PPE and the ability to work to very high standards with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work abroad on a rotational or long‑stay basis (accommodation and local logistics arranged by the client).
  • Excellent attitude to health & safety, compliance and working within strict site protocols.

Pay, rotations and benefits

  • Day rate: £350 all‑in, paid self‑employed (competitive against UK trades rates for DV‑cleared work).
  • Working pattern: typically 6–7 days per week, depending on project needs and rotation schedule.
  • Flights: free outbound flight to the project location and free international return flights home at agreed, regular intervals.
  • Accommodation: free, project‑provided accommodation for the duration of each rotation, with local transport arranged where required.

This is a strong package versus typical UK painter/decorator and carpenter day rates, especially given the free travel and accommodation.

What’s on offer

  • Long‑running overseas project with stable, ongoing work for the right tradespeople.
  • Opportunity to work on high‑profile, confidential projects supporting UK interests overseas.
  • Joining a trusted, professional team used to operating in secure environments.

How to apply

If you’re a DV‑cleared Painter & Decorator or Carpenter and you’re interested in long‑term overseas work on £350/day with flights and accommodation provided, please send:

  • Your up‑to‑date CV.
  • Confirmation of your current DV clearance status and when it was last active.
  • Brief summary of your recent projects (especially any defence, government or high‑security sites).

Apply via email or contact the team for a confidential chat.

Pay: £350.00 per day

Benefits:

  • Canteen
  • Free flu jabs
  • Free or subsidised travel
  • Relocation assistance
  • Shuttle service provided
  • Transport links

Application question(s):

  • Availability and rotations

Are you able to commit to working 6–7 days per week on a long‑running overseas project?

What is your earliest start date, and are you happy to work on a rotational or extended‑stay basis abroad?

Do you have any upcoming commitments that might limit your availability over the next 3–6 months?

  • Clearance and eligibility

Do you currently hold Developed Vetting (DV) clearance, and when was it last active? PLEASE DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS JOB IF YOU DO NOT HOLD AN ACTIVE OR RECENTLY LAPSED DV SECURITY CLEARANCE AS YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THESE ROLES. Applications from candidates who require DV or hold any other form of security clearance are not acceptable and will not be considered for this role.

Work Location: In person
