Full job description

We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to support the delivery of rainwater separation projects across our sewerage network. In this role, you'll help identify opportunities to remove rainwater from the foul sewer system, reducing the risk of flooding, pollution incidents and hydraulic overload.

With a particular focus on property-level separation, you'll work closely with customers, communities and internal teams to deliver practical solutions that improve network performance and create lasting environmental benefits.

This is a varied, field-based role that combines investigation, customer engagement and problem-solving, offering a great opportunity to develop your skills while making a real impact.

What you'll do
  • Support the identification and delivery of rainwater separation opportunities across the sewerage network to help reduce flooding, pollution incidents and hydraulic overload.
  • Undertake site visits, investigations and data gathering activities to identify areas where rainwater can be removed from the foul sewer network.
  • Work alongside Senior Rainwater Technicians and other business teams to support projects from initial assessment through to completion.
  • Engage with customers to explain the benefits of rainwater separation and support the delivery of practical drainage solutions.
  • Carry out property surveys and drainage investigations.
  • Trace drainage systems and identify misconnections.
  • Assist with the delivery of project works on site.
  • Collect field data and inspect drainage assets to support network improvement activities.
  • Work outdoors across a variety of environments and locations.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and represent the business in a professional manner.
What you'll need

The successful candidate will:

  • be enthusiastic, proactive and eager to learn
  • have strong communication skills and confidence when engaging with customers face-to-face
  • enjoy working outdoors and carrying out practical investigations
  • be an effective team player who works well with colleagues across different teams
  • have a basic understanding of sewerage networks, drainage systems or wastewater operations
  • be willing to develop knowledge of rainwater separation and sustainable drainage solutions
  • have good problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
  • be able to manage their workload effectively and work safely at all times
  • have experience working in an operational or field-based environment (desirable)
  • hold a full UK driving licence.
What you'll receive
  • A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
  • Career progression and professional development opportunities.
  • 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
  • The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year.
  • The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions).
  • A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs.
  • Life assurance of up to eight times your salary.
  • The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions).
  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from trained mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
