About Barton Court Estate
Barton Court Estate is a privately owned estate dedicated to excellence in land stewardship, , and heritage. We pride ourselves on our immaculate presentation and attention to detail that supports the lifestyle of the principals and their guests.
We are looking for a motivated, skilled, and hands-on Estate Worker to join our close-knit team and contribute to the care and upkeep of our formal gardens, parklands, and wider estate grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Lawn care: Mowing, strimming, edging, and maintenance of formal and informal lawns
- Grounds maintenance: General upkeep of parklands, paddocks, woodlands, and driveways
- Machinery use: Operation of tractors, strimmers, mowers, hedge cutters, and chainsaws
- Woodland management: Basic chainsaw work, log splitting, and maintenance of woodland paths
- Gardens: Support with the maintenance of formal gardens alongside the gardening team
- General repairs: Basic handyman tasks, fencing repairs, path maintenance, and estate upkeep
- Machinery & vehicles: Daily maintenance checks, cleaning, and safe operation of estate machinery
- Digger work: Occasional use of mini-diggers or similar machinery (basic skills preferred)
- Problem-solving: Identify issues proactively and take initiative to resolve them
- Livestock (bonus skill): Support with sheep handling and basic animal care as needed

Essential Requirements
- Experience operating tractors and grounds maintenance machinery
- Confident using chainsaws and powered garden equipment (relevant certificates preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
- Basic handyman or maintenance experience
- Willingness to work occasional flexible hours (e.g. seasonal or weather-dependent tasks)
- A “can do” attitude
- Willingness to muck in with all jobs that crop up, including unrelated.
Desirable Skills
- Digger operation
- Experience with livestock/sheep care
- Tickets for machinery use (chainsaw, brush cutter, etc.)
