Job Purpose:
The General Porter is responsible for providing a wide range of support services across the site, including furniture moves, deliveries, waste management, and general grounds upkeep of designated areas. This role ensures that facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, and organized condition to support the daily operations of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out the movement, assembly, and relocation of furniture, equipment, and supplies as directed.
• Assist with the set-up and breakdown of rooms for meetings, events, and functions.
• Undertake routine portering tasks such as the collection and delivery of parcels, mail, and supplies across site locations.
• Support waste management activities, including recycling, removal of bulky items, and safe disposal procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in storerooms, corridors, and designated shared spaces.
• Grounds maintenance at our various client sites, includes window cleaning, general lawn mowing, weeding, jet washing of areas to keep clean and tidy.
• Assist with minor maintenance tasks or report faults to the Facilities team for prompt resolution.
• Provide safe manual handling of heavy or awkward loads, using appropriate equipment (e.g., trolleys, lifting aids).
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and departments to meet operational needs.
• Respond promptly to urgent portering requests or emergencies.
• Follow all relevant health, safety, and security procedures at all times.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience in a similar facilities, estates, or portering role (desirable but not essential).
• Ability to safely carry out manual handling tasks and operate handling equipment.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong customer service approach and good communication skills.
• Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.

Working Conditions:

• The role may involve lifting, carrying, and moving heavy or bulky items.
• Work will be undertaken both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support events or operational needs.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
