MARCH 2025 START
This role of Deputy Facilities Officer is one that requires a high degree of responsilbity, trust and a can-do attitude. The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for various functions relating to the school site and its use.
These include duties relating to cleanliness, maintenance, safety and security.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Perform general maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of areas and as assigned by the Headteacher, Bursar Deputy Head and in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations.
- Perform only those maintenance and repairs that do not re quire a license or perform maintenance and repairs under the direct supervision of a licensed technician.
- Ensure the work site and conditions are safe.
- Perform regular inspections of equipment and systems, reporting any abnormalities and hazards immediately.
- Keep a log of all maintenance functions and repairs per formed.
- Recommend repairs or procedures that are beyond the scope of responsilbities, skill, or experience, outlining the work needed and specifications required of an external con tractor.
- Must act at all times with consideration for the health and safety of others, including not leaving tools unattended and maintaining a tidy and organised workspace. Should liaise on a regular basis with the staff responsible for Health & Safety checks in both schools.
- Remove snow, leaves and ice by shoveling, plowing, and/ or sanding/sweeping walkways, driveways, parking areas and steps.
- Report immediately any damage or van dalism to facilities, or theft of equipment. Also be responsible for the regular cleaning of the outside areas including some gardening jobs e.g. removal of leaves and litter in play areas.
- Must be familiar with the action to be taken in the event of a fi re and acquaint ed with the operation of fire extinguishing equipment.
- The Facilties Officer is also responsible for monitoring for signs of damp or other damage, and rodents or other infestations.
- Should, as necessary, ask visitors to identify themselves and request unau thorised persons to leave the premises.
- Be responsible for opening up and locking up the building on request.
- Comply with the reasonable requests of the Headteacher, Deputy Head and Bursar, consistent with the efficient running of the school.
- Check playground equipment on a termly basis for repairs or damage with Health and Safety post holders. Make adjustments or changes as appropriate.
- Carry out emergency light tests weekly and log results.
- Minor carpentry and brickwork repairs.
- General decoration and painting duties including carpet laying and building of interior furniture.
- Minor repairs to windows, radiators, lights, taps, walls and floors as directed.
- Maintain gutters, downpipes, drains and gulleys.
- Minor roof repairs.
- Routine maintenance of applicable maintenance equipment.
- Assist collection and delivery of goods on the premises.
- Provide security cover as required out side of school hours.
