Professional Driver Trainer (HGV/PCV)

Location: Dodworth, Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 + Overtime + Benefits
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours Monday–Friday (overtime available)
Contract: Permanent

Premier Fleet Solutions (PFS) is a well-established, family-run driver training company based in Dodworth, South Yorkshire. With a strong reputation for excellence and integrity, we provide top-quality HGV and PCV driver training, Driver CPC courses, and corporate driver risk assessments.

We're entering an exciting phase of growth and are now seeking a Professional Driver Trainer to join our expanding team. If you're enthusiastic about driver education and enjoy working in a dynamic, customer-focused environment, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering professional, high-quality training to HGV and PCV learners in line with DVSA test standards
  • Conducting driving assessments and providing clear, constructive feedback
  • Supporting qualified drivers with Driver CPC and classroom-based learning
  • Carrying out driver risk assessments for our growing list of corporate clients
  • Helping learners with theory preparation and ensuring they feel confident and supported
  • Maintaining training records and promoting a culture of safety and compliance

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Full UK Driving Licence including C+E and Cat D
  • Experience in vocational driver training (HGV/PCV)
  • Strong communication, organisational, and coaching skills
  • Uses initiative to identify what needs to be done and able to resolve issues proactively
  • Good working knowledge of The Highway Code, vehicle checks, and safe driving practice
  • Flexibility with start/finish times depending on client needs

Desirable:

  • DVSA Instructor Qualification or equivalent
  • Certificate in Training Practice or similar (Adult Education)
  • Assessor qualifications – Mod 4 and 3A experience
  • Proficient with IT tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Experience using digital tools for training delivery
