Job Summary:

Hornett Bros & Co Ltd is a long established, family run manufacturer and exporter of industrial lubricant additives from its base in Rainham, Essex.

They are currently looking to recruit a Trainee Process Operator to join a small but experienced, motivated and flexible team in the Production Department. Full training will be given to the successful candidate in Toll Blending and Process Operating, and many other general site activities.

Due to the nature of activities on site the company operates with a Clean Shaven and No Smoking policies.

This is a 40 hour per week position Monday to Friday 7.30am to 4.30pm with one hour for lunch. Overtime available subject to business demands.

Hornett Bros & Co Ltd offer a competitive salary following a successful probationary period and three months service.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities include but are not restricted to:

  • Weighing and physically adding raw materials.
  • Operating plant machinery including pumps, valves, and filters.
  • Following standard operating procedures in efficient but safe manner.
  • Accurately complete all documentation for a batch be it computerised or handwritten.
  • Run off approved material into drums, IBC's or bulk tankers.
  • Report any plant malfunctions quickly to minimise downtime costs and hazards.
  • Maintain and improve Quality Standards.
  • Keep all areas of operation clean and tidy.
  • Loading and unloading of lorries and containers using forklift trucks.
  • Work to Health and Safety standards as set out in Company documentation.
  • Perform product quality testing and environmental testing at intermediate stages of processes.
  • Carry out monthly preventative maintenance work.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Counterbalance Forklift truck experience essential.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team members.
  • Previous history of working in a chemical manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
  • Basic computer knowledge essential.
  • The ability to adapt and change priorities.
  • Confined space entry experience would be advantageous but not essential.
