The role

As a Welder, you’ll be at the heart of one of the most critical defence projects in the world. You’ll work on the manufacturing of 22 tactical missile tube assemblies as part of the Common Missile Compartment (CMC) project for the UK Successor and US Ohio Class replacement submarine programmes. This is your chance to contribute to national security while developing your skills in a dynamic, high-tech environment.

Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
Execute welding tasks using SMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SAW, and Arc Air Gouging processes to exacting standards.
Operate welding equipment safely, setting up and maintaining plant in line with procedures.
Conduct visual inspections of welds to meet project specifications.
Use digital and thermal devices for temperature monitoring and manage pre-heating equipment.
Perform daily machine checks, report faults, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at Rosyth Dockyard, Fife. You’ll work 39 hours per week on a rotational shift pattern of days and nights (12-hour shifts).

Essential experience of the Welder:
Strong understanding of weld defects and their causes.
Ability to perform set-up procedures for welding equipment and accessories.
Experience with pulsed MIG (or MIG and TIG).

Qualifications for the Welder:
Level 3 qualified or indentured apprentice Welder.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
