Overview

We’re looking for a Contents Restoration Technician to join our content team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for restoring hard and soft contents within the DisasterCare East Midlands contents unit to the highest standards of safety, quality, traceability, productivity and customer care.

The role supports controlled validation, cleaning, drying, finishing, restoration, BER identification, packing and hand-forward of customer property through the unit.

The role supports the wider logistics and technician teams by preparing equipment, managing stock and deliveries, and ensuring all housekeeping standards are consistently met. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, with all tasks carried out in line with company procedures to minimise risk and maintain compliance.

Accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail are critical, as maintaining a safe and efficient workspace directly impacts operational performance and team effectiveness.

As part of our One Team, One Purpose ethos, you’ll work collaboratively across departments, supporting logistics and field teams when required, and upholding our commitment to Excellence as Our Standard. Flexibility is important, particularly during busy periods or surge events, where additional support may be needed to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities

  • Hard contents restoration
  • Restore assigned hard contents to the highest possible standard, with the objective of returning items to pre-incident condition wherever reasonably achievable.
  • Work within the correct processing stream, including upholstery, furniture restoration, electronics, FireLine and sink cleaning, in line with training and competence.
  • Check condition before, during and after processing and escalate items that are not suitable for restoration or may fall below the required standard.

Soft contents validation and processing

  • Validate soft contents on receipt into the unit, ensuring counts, claim linkage, bagging and condition are correct before processing starts.
  • Carry soft contents through the approved cleaning, drying, finishing and packing route in line with the required standard.
  • Ensure no soft contents item progresses without clear visibility of status, condition and next stage.

BER identification and quality control

  • Correctly identify items that are beyond economical repair or not suitable for onward restoration and escalate them through the BER route with the required evidence.
  • Carry out quality checks on completed work to ensure finished items meet the required standard before packing.
  • Escalate poor outcomes, uncertainty, contamination concerns, damage, shrinkage, odour issues and route exceptions immediately.

Packing, protection and traceability

  • Pack restored items safely and correctly once they have completed the restoration process.
  • Use approved packaging and labels so items remain protected, claim-linked and ready for onward movement.
  • Maintain clear item visibility, location control and traceability at all times.

Systems, evidence and documentation

  • Update iCare and related records accurately and on time.
  • Record item status, BER decisions, completion points, packing completion and exception notes clearly.
  • Ensure the physical reality in the unit matches the digital record at all times.

Safety, housekeeping and team standards

  • Work in line with RAMS, COSHH, PPE, manual handling and warehouse safety requirements at all times.
  • Keep workstations, cleaning areas, packing areas and storage areas safe, clean and organised.
  • Report hazards, defects, spillages, near misses, unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviour immediately.

Qualifications

  • PAT testing certification is desirable but not required (training can be provided).
  • Relevant health and safety certifications or a willingness to undergo training.

Benefits You’ll Receive

  • 28 Days Annual Leave (including Bank Holidays)
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – 24/7 confidential support
  • Retirement Pension Plan
  • Annual Pay Review
  • Bright Exchange Discounts – savings at hundreds of UK shops, restaurants, gyms, and cinemas
  • Free Eye Tests
  • Access to E-Learning and Skills Development
  • Ongoing Professional Training Opportunities
  • Team Events and Social Activities

Job Type: Full-time
