You will be taught all aspects of prostate brachytherapy to the level of a consultant level. There is a complete web-based database recording the clinical outcomes of all those patients treated to date, which aids research activities. The Uro-Oncology Department also has a medical statistician, writer and scientist as well as research nurses to maximize research opportunities. Previous fellows have undertaken both PhDs and MDs through the University of Surrey. The position will initially be for 1 year and can be extended by mutual agreement.
Although this is not a training post, applicants will be encouraged to gain postgraduate qualifications in Oncology, and continuing professional development is encouraged. Applications from less than full time trainees will be considered.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital Foundation Trust provides specialist Cancer and Haemato-oncological care, including complex Cancer surgery, to the population of the South West Surrey and Hampshire (previously SWSH cancer network), a catchment area of approximately 1.2 million. Non-surgical oncological treatment for these patients is provided at the St. Luke’s Cancer Centre, which is an integral part of the Trust. There are close links with surrounding cancer units and the Surrey Clinical Research Centre.
Here at St Luke’s, we aim to provide first class, high quality care for all of our patients in a friendly and professional setting. Our services have received national recognition and praise and our patients benefit from the latest and most innovative treatments available, delivered by a team of committed and highly skilled staff. You will be joining our team of 27 oncologists as well as working with a team of Specialist Registrars, Specialty Doctors, SHOs, AHP’s and Specialist Nurses.
St Luke’s offers a nationally leading Radiotherapy service that enables patients to have more choice in their treatment options. The Consultants delivering the service are involved in National and International teaching and research ensuring quality and care for every patient.
Royal Surrey is a compassionate and collaborative acute and community Trust. Recognising that our 5000 colleagues are our greatest strength, we offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program along with a commitment to developing and advancing your career. Our diverse and welcoming Royal Surrey family will ensure you that you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire tenure.
We are clinically led and provide joined up care by bridging the gap between hospital and community services alongside regional specialist cancer care. Our main acute hospital site is in Guildford with community hospital sites at Milford, Haslemere and Cranleigh. We provide adult community health services in homes across Guildford and Waverley.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have given us an overall rating of Outstanding.
Royal Surrey has a strong reputation and history to build on. We are proud of our achievements and we are investing in our colleagues through our commitment to supporting professional development as well as investing more than £45 million in our physical environment and new equipment in the next few years. There has never been a better time to join us.
Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
