Full job description

Join us as we keep the East Midlands moving.

At East Midlands Railway (EMR), we’re proud to be One Team. Every day, our people help create a safe, reliable, and welcoming railway for the communities we serve. With over 2,600 colleagues, we know our success comes from the passion, talent, and diversity of our teams — especially those on the frontline of customer service.

We’re nine-times accredited as a Top Employer and hold Gold status for Inclusive Employers Standards. Whoever you are, and whatever your background, we want you to feel confident bringing your authentic self to work.

Become the friendly face of St Pancras International

We’re recruiting Customer Service Officers for future opportunities at London St Pancras.

If you enjoy helping people, staying calm under pressure, and being part of a supportive, fast-paced team — this could be the role for you.

What you’ll do
Dispatch trains safely and on time — keeping services punctual and following all safety procedures.
Support customers throughout their journey — offering clear, friendly, and reassuring guidance.
Assist with station security — taking part in searches and keeping the station safe for everyone.
Be visible and proactive — offering help before passengers even need to ask.
Help with boarding and alighting — supporting passengers of all ages and abilities.
Shifts

You’ll work a rotating shift pattern, with start times from 5:00am and finish times up to around 12:30am, including some evenings and weekends. A shift allowance is paid in addition to your basic salary.

Full safety-critical training is provided. Offers are subject to passing a medical assessment (including drugs and alcohol screening and colour vision testing).

Why choose EMR?

Alongside joining a brilliant team at a world-class station, you’ll receive:

Free travel on the EMR network
Up to 75% discounted travel across the wider rail industry
Friends & Family discounted travel
Defined benefit railway pension
Access to our employee benefits portal
Cycle to Work scheme
… and much more.

Ready to apply?

Submit your online application and upload your CV.
As EMR uses a blind screening process, please remove any personal details — including your name — from your CV.

Successful candidates will join our talent pool for up to 12 months. If a vacancy arises in that time, we’ll contact you directly with an offer — no need to reapply.

Please note - when you join the team at St Pancras you'll start as a Customer Service Officer - General Purpose Relief which means that you will cover the platform and gateline when we have holidays, which means that you wont know your shift pattern until the Thursday before.

What do I do if I have questions before applying?

Why not Join us at on an Information Session, where we’ll share an overview of the role, example shift pattern, outline expectations, and give interested candidates the opportunity to ask questions before applying.
The session will take place on Tuesday 14th July at 4.30pm on Microsoft Teams. Please register your interest for the session via the link below no later than the 13th July
