Merchandiser

Festive Lights Ltd is an award-winning online supplier of home, garden, and seasonal lighting, serving both retail consumers and businesses. Established 25 years ago as a family business, we have grown into a thriving company of over 60 employees while maintaining our passion for quality and innovation.

Our journey began in 1999 with a mission to bring extra sparkle to Christmas through beautifully designed lighting that looks stunning and performs perfectly year after year. Today, we continue to source the most inspiring lighting from around the world for every occasion and every season. Each product is carefully selected by our expert team to deliver exceptional value, cutting-edge design, and outstanding quality.

We sell across multiple ecommerce marketplaces alongside our own successful retail website, making data-driven merchandising central to our continued growth.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven Merchandiser to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys using data to influence commercial decisions.

As a Merchandiser, you will be responsible for driving trading performance through data-led analysis, effective inventory management, and collaborative working across multiple departments. You will play a pivotal role in analysing sales trends, forecasting demand, optimising stock levels, and identifying opportunities to maximise sales and profitability while minimising commercial risk.

Working closely with Buying, Marketing, Operations and Supply Chain teams, you will help deliver the right products, in the right quantities, at the right time, ensuring an excellent customer experience and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run weekly trade analysis and communicate key findings across the business
  • Review daily and weekly sales performance, taking action on rebuys, markdowns, and category growth opportunities
  • Analyse product performance, identifying over- and under-performing product groups and implementing trading actions
  • Forecast, monitor, and manage inventory levels across all businesses, marketplaces, and brands to prevent stock issues
  • Manage budget intake and Open-to-Buy (OTB), escalating required changes to the Purchasing Manager
  • Maintain and update forecasting reports
  • Support range planning and marketplace/territory allocation
  • Assist with shipment planning based on sales performance and analysis
  • Review and manage stock grading processes
  • Maintain stock exit strategies for D & E stock
  • Conduct seasonal performance reviews
  • Produce and deliver required management reports

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a merchandising role
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong data analysis capability
  • Highly analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and drive commercial decisions
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Additional leave
  • Casual dress
  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Employee discount
  • Free parking
  • Health & wellbeing programme
  • On-site parking
  • Sick pay

Experience:

  • Merchandising: 1 year (preferred)
