Full job description
This is a long-term position, not a one-off or short-term freelance project. We’re looking for someone who wants to join our team, work with us consistently and become part of our growing editing team.
We’re looking for a creative, motivated and highly reliable YouTube Video Editor to join our growing team in Leeds.
We’re a team of 37 editors creating health content for multiple brands, with our videos reaching millions of views across YouTube and other social platforms.
This is a contractor position with our US-based company. You’ll be working from our Leeds office as part of our wider international creative team.
This is a purely creative editing role. We provide the scripts, filmed footage and assets — you bring the editing expertise, creativity and ideas.
We’re not looking for someone who simply follows instructions and cuts footage together. We want someone who is genuinely interested in YouTube, keeps up with what’s working and brings their own ideas to the table.
What you’ll be doing:
- Editing long-form YouTube videos with a strong focus on retention
- Creating YouTube Shorts and vertical content for YouTube, TikTok and Instagram
- Using B-roll, graphics, text, sound design, effects and creative editing techniques to keep viewers engaged
- Bringing your own creative ideas to the videos rather than simply following a brief
- Staying up to date with YouTube trends, editing styles and formats that are performing
- Watching what successful creators and channels are doing and thinking about how we can adapt those ideas
- Suggesting new editing approaches, hooks, visual ideas and techniques to the wider team
- Understanding pacing, storytelling and audience retention
- Working efficiently and consistently delivering high-quality videos on time
What we’re looking for:
- Excellent Adobe Premiere Pro skills
- A strong understanding of YouTube retention and audience behaviour
- Someone who actively follows YouTube and social media trends
- A creative thinker who brings ideas to the table
- A great eye for pacing, storytelling, B-roll and visual creativity
- Someone who is efficient, organised and reliable
- Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to continually improve
- Previous experience editing YouTube/social media content is strongly preferred
- Someone who can work at a good pace while maintaining a high standard of editing
- Someone who is comfortable working to clear deadlines and an agreed weekly workload
What you DON'T need to do:
You don't need to write scripts.
You don't need to appear on camera.
You don't need to film videos.
You don't need to do the medical research.
We provide the scripts, footage and assets. Your role is to turn that material into engaging, creative content that people want to watch.
The role:
- Long-term position — we’re looking for someone who wants to stay and grow with the team
- Contractor position with our US-based company
- £15 per hour
- Leeds office-based
- Full-time: 35–40 hours per week
- Part-time: 25–30 hours per week
- Your weekly earnings will depend on the number of hours you choose to work
- Editors will be expected to complete an agreed number of videos each week, based on their contracted hours and the type of content being produced
- We work to clear deadlines and expect consistent, reliable output
- Working alongside our existing team of 37 editors
We care about quality, but we also care about efficiency. You’ll be expected to manage your time well, work at a good pace and consistently complete the agreed workload. This is not a role where you can take significantly longer than expected to complete each edit without a clear reason.
Why join us?
You’ll be joining an established creative team producing health content that reaches millions of viewers across YouTube and other platforms.
You’ll work alongside 37 other editors, giving you the opportunity to share ideas, learn from other creatives and develop your editing skills while working on content with a large audience.
Most importantly, we want you to have a genuine creative input. We want editors who notice trends, watch what other successful channels are doing and come to the team with ideas about how we can make our content even better.
If you’re passionate about YouTube, understand what makes people keep watching, and you’re the kind of editor who is always thinking “I’ve got an idea for this…”, we’d love to hear from you.
Pay: £21,000.00-£31,200.00 per year
Benefits:
- Employee mentoring programme
- Free parking
- On-site parking
Work Location: In person
