Our mission is to prepare young people for future careers in the digital sector by nurturing their passion for technology and guiding them toward practical, industry-recognised skills in areas like game development, cybersecurity, and computer science. Our learners often arrive disengaged from mainstream education, but they thrive in our nurturing, tech-forward environment, which values creativity, autonomy, and meaningful connections.
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an inspiring, adaptable Educator to lead sessions, co-design digital learning experiences, and guide young people toward technical competency and personal confidence. You will deliver engaging, inclusive learning to small groups of students with diverse educational needs, many of whom have EHCPs and require SEMH-aware support.
You will ideally hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) (or equivalent), or have substantial experience leading learning, creating schemes of work, and facilitating both practical and theory-based sessions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, deliver, and assess lessons in line with SGE’s digital curriculum (e.g. Game Design, Principles of Coding and Computer Science).
- Deliver SGE’s curriculum under the guidance and support of the lead tutor and head of delivery.
- Create engaging, differentiated resources tailored to individual learners’ needs, styles, and EHCP outcomes.
- Lead small group learning with empathy, clarity, and enthusiasm.
- Support learners in project-based work, promoting independence, resilience, and collaboration.
- Contribute to curriculum development and course refinement in your area of specialism.
- Track learner progress, complete formative/summative assessments, and produce clear reports for students, parents/carers, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with support staff, including learning assistants and mentors, to create inclusive and trauma-informed classrooms.
- Use a range of digital tools and platforms, including Office Suite, Game Development Engine (Unity), VS Code, 3D Design (Blender) and be able to implement agile development tools and methodologies including GitHub source control.
- Attend staff meetings, supervision, and professional development sessions.
- Act as a positive role model, reinforcing SGE’s core values of Respect, Creativity, and Belonging.
KEY ORGANISATIONAL OBJECTIVES
- To uphold and actively promote the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
- To comply with health and safety responsibilities and actively contribute to a safe working environment.
- To ensure full compliance with data protection legislation, maintain confidentiality at all times.
- To operate within the SGE’s equality policies, promoting fairness and inclusion.
- To contribute to a caring, stimulating, and supportive environment that promotes student development.
- To maintain professional standards of dress, conduct, and communication in line with SGE’s ethos and code of conduct.
