Full job description

AI Automation Practitioner Tutor / Curriculum Developer

Location: Remote / home-based, with travel as required
Contract: Full-time,

About the role

Projecting Success is looking for an experienced AI Automation Practitioner Tutor / Curriculum Developer to help build and deliver our AI Automation Practitioner apprenticeship programme.

This is not just a teaching role. We need someone who can take ownership of turning the AI Automation Practitioner standard into a practical, high-quality curriculum that is ready for delivery. That means designing the learner journey, developing learning materials, creating practical activities, supporting assessment preparation and helping apprentices apply AI and automation in real workplace settings.

The role would suit someone with strong practical experience in AI, automation, data, digital transformation or applied technology, combined with the ability to teach, coach and develop structured learning content.

There may also be some delivery across related data and AI programmes, such as Level 4 Data Analyst or Level 7 AI/data provision, depending on occupational competence and business need. However, the main focus of the role is to build and deliver the AI Automation Practitioner curriculum.

What you’ll be doing

You will design and develop the AI Automation Practitioner curriculum, including the programme structure, sequencing, session plans, learning resources, practical activities, project briefs, learner guidance and employer-facing materials.

You will interpret the apprenticeship standard, assessment plan and employer needs to create a clear, practical learner journey that supports apprentices to develop the required knowledge, skills and behaviours.

You will build learning content that helps apprentices understand and apply AI, automation, data, workflow improvement and digital problem-solving in real workplace contexts.

You will deliver teaching, coaching and learner support across the AI Automation Practitioner programme and, where appropriate, related data or AI apprenticeship programmes.

You will support apprentices to apply technical learning to workplace projects, including automation use cases, process improvement, data-led problem solving, AI-enabled workflows and responsible use of technology.

You will manage an apprentice caseload, keeping learners on track, reviewing progress, giving developmental feedback and supporting readiness for gateway and end-point assessment.

You will work with delivery, quality, curriculum and operations colleagues to make sure the programme is compliant, practical, accessible and ready for high-quality delivery.

You will review and improve materials using feedback from learners, employers, tutors, quality activity and programme performance.

You will maintain accurate records, clear version control and curriculum documentation, escalating risks where programme build, learner progress, quality or compliance could be affected.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who can combine technical credibility with strong learning design.

You should understand how AI and automation can be used in the workplace to improve processes, reduce manual effort, support decision-making and create practical business value.

You do not need to be an academic AI researcher, but you do need to be confident with applied AI, automation concepts, data use, digital tools and workplace implementation.

You should be able to take a technical standard and turn it into teachable, engaging and structured learning. This includes designing workshops, practical tasks, project briefs, learning resources and assessment preparation materials.

You should also be confident teaching adults, explaining technical concepts clearly and supporting learners with different levels of prior experience.

Essential experience

  • Current, relevant experience in AI, automation, data, digital transformation, analytics, workflow improvement or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience designing or developing curriculum, training materials, technical learning content or structured learning programmes.
  • Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, training or supporting adult learners.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, practical learning activities.
  • Ability to support learners to apply technical skills in real workplace settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage both curriculum development deadlines and learner-facing responsibilities.
  • Confidence using digital tools for delivery, collaboration, learner tracking and resource development.
  • Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths, or willingness to evidence equivalence where required.

Desirable experience

  • Experience delivering or developing apprenticeship programmes.
  • Experience with AI Automation Practitioner, Data Analyst, Data Technician, Level 7 AI/data-related provision or other digital/data apprenticeship standards.
  • Experience designing project-based learning, workplace tasks, technical assessments or employer-led learning activities.
  • Teaching qualification such as AET, Certificate in Education, PGCE or equivalent.
  • Assessor qualification such as CAVA, TAQA, A1 or D32/33.
  • Experience using Bud or another learner management system or ePortfolio platform.
  • Experience using authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Articulate 360 or similar.
  • Understanding of Ofsted expectations, apprenticeship funding rules, EPA requirements or internal quality assurance.

The type of person we’re looking for

You will be practical, organised and confident building something from the ground up.

You will be able to take the AI Automation Practitioner standard and turn it into a clear, deliverable programme.

You will enjoy creating learning that is applied, useful and directly linked to workplace impact.

You will be comfortable working with both technical and non-technical people, including apprentices, employers, tutors, quality colleagues and internal teams.

You will take ownership of your work, meet agreed deadlines and flag risks early where support is needed.

You will care about quality, learner progress, accurate records and building a programme that can stand up to employer, learner, quality and compliance scrutiny.

Safeguarding and compliance

Projecting Success is committed to safeguarding, equality of opportunity and creating a safe learning environment. The successful candidate will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including enhanced DBS and BPSS where applicable.

The post holder must follow Projecting Success policies and procedures, including Safeguarding, Prevent, data protection, information security, equality and diversity, health and safety, ISO and Cyber Essentials requirements.

Why join Projecting Success?

This is an opportunity to play a key role in building a new AI Automation Practitioner programme from the ground up.

You will help shape how apprentices learn to use AI and automation in practical, responsible and commercially useful ways. You will be joining a team focused on applied learning, workplace impact and helping employers use data, automation and AI to solve real business problems.n the digital economy.
