Department: Academic Standards and Quality Office
Location: Manchester (On-Site Working) - Please note, we are now only able to consider hiring at our Manchester campus.
Type of Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-Time, 40hrs per week

GBS is a higher education provider offering a range of sector-relevant courses across ten campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Working in partnership with several of the UK’s leading higher education providers, we deliver vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in finance, accounting, business, construction, tourism, healthcare, and more.
What We Do: Developing and writing quality reports both internally for GBS and for GBS partner organisations and other external agencies. To contribute to preparations for degree awarding powers.

The Academic Quality Manager will support the work of GBS’s Academic Standards and Quality Office to ensure that the policies and procedures of awarding bodies (Pearson, university partner institutions) and, as appropriate, GBS policies and procedures are fully and consistently implemented across all GBS campuses and programmes of study.
To support academic and professional services staff with the production of high-quality reports required for both internal and external audiences. To support faculty with the student representative system in GBS and associated committees.

Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that GBS policies and procedures are kept up to date and consistently implemented across all higher education provision and GBS campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester.
- To ensure that the policies, procedures and systems of partner awarding bodies and colleges are fully and consistently implemented across programmes delivered by GBS.
- To work with the Director of Academic Standards and Quality in preparing GBS for applying to the OfS for degree awarding powers (DAPs).
- To contribute to the development, maintenance, review and updating of the GBS quality assurance policies and procedures.
- To write quality monitoring and quality enhancements reports, as required.
- To ensure quality assurance and enhancement at GBS supports a cycle of continuous improvement, leading the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of enhancements.
- To lead on the approval, accreditation, monitoring, and review activity within a defined portfolio of the GBS's academic programmes
- To co-ordinate and undertake internal quality audit tasks as appropriate to the needs of the GBS and demands of awarding bodies/partner organisations.
- To co-ordinate and manage complaints and academic appeals processes, ensuring timely responses and satisfactory outcomes.
- To act as secretary, as required, supporting GBS academic and corporate governance boards and committees including, for example, the Board of Directors, Academic Board, Learning and Teaching Committee, Audit and Risk Committee and Programme Committee.
- Take on special projects as required and related to the role of Academic Quality Manager.
- To write high quality analytic and evaluative reports using quantitative and qualitative data for internal and external audiences, as required.

- The Academic Quality Manager may be asked to provide written and verbal reports to the Chief Executive Officer, Deans, and other senior staff at GBS, and the Director of Academic Standards and Quality.
- Liaises with Deans, Associate Deans, Managing Director and other senior professional services staff, Programme Administrators, Programme Leaders, teaching staff, administrative staff, and external organisations as appropriate, to work related to the role of the Academic Quality Manager.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role
- Experience of managing and leading teams
- Excellent understanding of quality assurance and quality enhancement, and external requirements of quality reviews, including the QAA.
- Understanding of requirements for degree awarding powers.
- Excellent written skills with extensive experience of report writing.
- Ability to compile, analyse and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data to incorporate into reports.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work to challenging deadlines and deliver set objectives.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Willing to travel to GBS campuses as required.
