Full job description

Senior Support Worker

Oakback House | Junella Care | Harrogate £34,320 per annum + £45 per sleep-in

Why Junella?

  • We are preparing Oakback, a new two-bed children's home in Harrogate, for Ofsted registration.
  • Two beds means we can keep the home deliberately small.
  • It gives our team the opportunity to know the young people properly and to build care around relationships rather than an institutional routine.
  • Because we are building the opening team now, you will also have something established homes cannot always offer:
  • The chance to help create the culture rather than simply join it.

What makes you a Senior here?

  • A Senior Support Worker at Junella is somebody other staff trust when things become difficult.
  • You will lead shifts, guide colleagues, understand risk, notice changes in young people's presentation, maintain standards, support effective key work and help management turn plans into everyday practice.
  • And you will still be involved.
  • You might complete a risk review at 2pm and be making pancakes with a young person at 5pm.
  • Both matter.

We are looking for someone who...

  • Has genuine children's residential experience.
  • Holds a relevant Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification.
  • Can lead a shift without needing to dominate it.
  • Understands safeguarding and professional curiosity.
  • Can remain calm around distressed or challenging behaviour.
  • Writes records that are clear, factual and useful.
  • Understands that boundaries and relationships are not opposites.
  • Can give colleagues feedback respectfully.
  • Knows when they can make decisions and when they need to escalate concerns.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.
  • Can work a residential rota, including sleep-ins, weekends and bank holidays.

What you'll receive

Senior Support Worker Salary: £34,320 per annum

Additional Sleep-In Payment: £45 per sleep-in

You'll also receive:

  • A structured development programme incorporating PACE, Team Teach, trauma-informed care, child development, adolescent mental health, neurodiversity, safeguarding and first aid.
  • Regular reflective supervision and ongoing professional development.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Free meals whilst on shift.
  • Funded Enhanced DBS.
  • Company sick pay.
  • Employee discount schemes.
  • On-site parking.
  • Staff recognition initiatives.
  • Access to additional discount and wellbeing schemes.

If leadership is where you want your career to go, we want the Senior Support Worker role to provide a genuine route towards Deputy Manager.

One Final Thing

We recruit carefully.

The children who will live at Oakback deserve adults around them whose employment history, references, qualifications and suitability have been properly checked.

If you want to help establish a small children's home where your judgement, relationships and professional practice will genuinely influence what the home becomes, we'd love to hear from you.

Small home. Strong team. Better futures.

Pay: £34,320.00-£36,500.00 per year

Benefits:
