Full job description

We are looking for a fully qualified Electrician to join our team, carrying out a mix of reactive maintenance and installation work. You’ll respond to electrical faults and breakdowns across domestic and commercial properties, diagnosing and repairing issues quickly and safely, and you’ll also deliver planned installation projects – from new circuits and rewires to upgrades and alterations – to a high standard. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, can switch between urgent callouts and planned works, works well under pressure and represents the company professionally on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance calls and electrical breakdowns across residential and commercial properties
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime and disruption to clients
  • Deliver planned electrical installation works, including new installations, full and partial rewires, alterations, extensions and upgrades, working to drawings and specifications
  • Carry out first and second fix electrical works on both repairs and installations, including wiring, accessories, lighting, containment and consumer units
  • Complete emergency and priority repairs within agreed response time and SLA targets
  • Plan and sequence installation works, coordinating with site managers and other trades to meet programme deadlines
  • Carry out inspection and testing of completed works and produce accurate certification (EICs, MWCs) in line with BS 7671
  • Participate in an on-call rota, providing out-of-hours emergency callout cover on a scheduled basis
  • Accurately complete job cards, worksheets and reports for every callout and installation, recording work carried out, materials used and time on site
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, tenants, site managers and other trades, keeping them updated on progress
  • Identify and report additional remedial or follow-on works required, escalating to the office or client as appropriate
  • Maintain van stock and manage your workload efficiently by liaising with our Customer Service and Management teams
  • Follow site-specific RAMS and comply with CDM 2015 and site safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area at all times

Requirements

  • Fully qualified electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), current
  • Inspection and testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391) desirable
  • Proven experience in both reactive/breakdown maintenance and electrical installation work
  • Valid CSCS/ECS card (Gold Card preferred)
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across a range of installations
  • Able to read and work from drawings, schematics and specifications
  • Able to work calmly and effectively under pressure, balancing urgent callouts with planned project deadlines
  • Reliable, punctual and able to manage your own workload independently
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rota

What we offer

  • Business use of Company van and fuel card.
  • Competitive hourly rate with overtime and on-call allowance.
  • Company pension scheme.

  • Employee wellbeing portal, including EAP and Digital GP access.

  • Ongoing training and career development.
