Are you an electrically minded motorsport enthusiast with a passion for problem-solving, vehicle technology and engineering? Do you enjoy getting hands-on with electrical systems, fault-finding and developing solutions to improve vehicle reliability and performance?

PalmerSport are looking for a proactive and technically capable Electrical & Systems Assistant to join our team. Working closely with our PalmerSport mechanics and technical staff, you will play an important role in maintaining, developing and improving the electrical and electronic systems across our vehicle fleet, including Mclaren Artura GT4s, Ginetta G56 GTAs, Formula 3000s, Palmer JP-LMs and Caterhams.

From diagnosing electrical faults and analysing vehicle data to building components and implementing improved systems, this is a varied, hands-on role where your technical knowledge and initiative will make a real difference to our day to day operations.

There may also be opportunities to work alongside the GB3 and GB4 Championship trackside technical teams, providing additional support at selected race events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting PalmerSport mechanics with electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, data analysis and structured problem-solving.
  • Repairing, maintaining and building electrical and electronic components across the PalmerSport vehicle fleet.
  • Analysing vehicle data to identify reliability trends, potential issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Designing and implementing improved electrical systems and engineering solutions in response to operational feedback.
  • Producing, interpreting and maintaining wiring schematics and circuit diagrams.
  • Supporting live technical issues and contributing to the continuous improvement of vehicle reliability and performance.
  • Providing technical support at selected events, including occasional travel to GB3 and GB4 race weekends.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong familiarity with System 25 components and motorsport wiring standards
  • Practical experience with Deutsch AS and DTM connectors, fine-gauge wiring, booting, splicing and termination
  • Ability to read, interpret and produce wiring schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Proven electrical fault-finding experience, including the confident use of a multimeter.
  • Working knowledge of at least one vehicle data analysis platform, such as Pi Toolbox, MoTeC i2, Bosch WinDarab or WINTAX
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach, with the ability to use initiative and go beyond expectations
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office package.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with CAN communication systems.
  • Experience repairing printed circuit boards (PCBs), including working with surface-mount (SMD) components.

In return PalmerSport offers:

  • Competitive pay and benefits
  • 31 days holiday (including Bank Holidays and Christmas shutdown)
  • Access to our MSV Hub, giving you access to discounts at 100s of shops across the UK
  • Discounted food and drink when working on site
  • A staff pass allowing access for yourself and a guest to attend events at all MSV circuits (including BTCC & BSB)
  • Access to 24/7 GP and wellbeing services
  • Training opportunities
  • A workplace pension
  • Free parking

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to apply their electrical and technical expertise within a busy motorsport environment, working with a passionate team and a varied fleet of high-performance vehicles.
